Summer Internship - Versant Health
Scope and Purpose of Position:
- During the 8 week summer internship program, the intern will be expected to:
- Develop a reusable wargame program that will be used by the cyber team to simulate attack or breach scenarios to identify and correct weaknesses in the cybersecurity team's incident response processes, procedures, and capabilities
- Operate at least two successful & valuable wargames to assess the effectiveness of the wargame program,
- Use the knowledge gained from the wargames to improve Cybersecurity processes, procedures, and/or policies.
- Essential Functions:
- Develop a wargaming program, with associated documentation including:
- Game design templates, in-game tracking template(s), game close-out report template, decision trees, lessons-learned documents, remediation tracking documentation, etc.
- Produce successful wargame outcomes, including associated documentation outlining lessons learned and next steps
- Compile Inventory of new and corrected/improved cybersecurity processes and procedures and/or tool configurations
- Deliver presentation on the program design & tooling, a review of the wargames' outcomes, and review of what actions were taken as a result of the lessons learned from the wargames.
- Educational Requirements:
- Must be currently enrolled in an Undergraduate degree program
- Preferred fields of study: Information Security, Data Security, Cybersecurity, MIS, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
- Required school classifications: Current Juniors and Seniors only
- Required GPA: 3.0 and above
- Experience:
- Knowledge of the OSI model as well as network ports and protocols
- Knowledge of security principles, vulnerabilities, and common attack vectors.
- Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell)
- Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office productivity suite
- Soft Skills: Problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure. A proactive mindset and a passion for continuous learning in the ever-evolving threat landscape
