Job Description

Securian Financial is seeking a Java Developer to join their Financial Product Ecosystem team. In this role, you will design, enhance, and support enterprise financial systems while collaborating with product owners and finance stakeholders to deliver scalable technology solutions.


Responsibilities

  • Design and implement enhancements within SAP financial platforms and related enterprise systems
  • Develop integrations and system functionality using modern programming languages and APIs
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across the financial systems ecosystem
  • Partner with Product Owners, architects, and business stakeholders to define requirements and deliver solutions in an agile environment
  • Translate business needs into scalable technical solutions
  • Manage incoming projects and enhancements while ensuring alignment with business priorities
  • Support batch processing and automated workflows that power financial operations
  • Participate in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and system improvements
  • Take part in a quarterly on-call rotation (approximately 2–3 weeks per quarter) supporting overnight batch processes, with strong team collaboration and support
  • Identify opportunities to improve system performance, reliability, and user experience
  • Contribute to documentation, testing, and operational best practices
  • Stay current on emerging technologies and bring new ideas to the team

Skills

  • Experience supporting or developing enterprise applications or financial systems (SAP experience preferred but not required)
  • Hands-on experience with software development using languages such as Java, Python, or similar
  • Experience working with system integrations, APIs, or web services
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Experience working in collaborative development environments
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience working with SAP technologies such as ABAP or FPSL
  • Familiarity with AWS, SAP HANA, or enterprise integration tools
  • Experience with batch scheduling tools such as Control-M
  • Understanding of financial systems, accounting processes, or operational reporting workflows
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Finance, Business, or a related field
