The Judiciary Secretary 1, Confidential role involves providing secretarial and administrative support, preparing correspondence, scheduling meetings, and ensuring effective communication within the Family Division.
Responsibilities
- Providing secretarial and administrative clerical support
- Prepare correspondence and reports
- Schedule meetings and appointments
- Perform calendar coordination to avoid conflicts
- Screening incoming calls and visitors
- Providing exceptional customer service
- Responding to inquiries from employees and clients including individuals from diverse backgrounds and those with limited English proficiency
- Perform other related duties as required
Skills
- One year of experience performing a variety of clerical and support services to include typing, secretarial and administrative clerical work
- Ability to use a keyboard, no minimum speed
- Regular and predictable physical presence at the worksite is an essential function of this position
- Driver's License: Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform essential duties of the position
- Authorization to Work: US citizenship is not required. Selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US according to Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations
- Special Note: Newly hired employees must agree to a thorough background check that will include fingerprinting
- Residency Law: In accordance with N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L. 2011, Chapter 70), the 'New Jersey First Act,' all persons newly hired by the Judiciary within one year must establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey
- Knowledge of Word, Access and Excel would be helpful
- Successful completion of a clerical training program with a minimum of 700 classroom training hours or 30 semester hour credits in secretarial science may be substituted for one year of the experience indicated above. Course work must include typing skills, methods and procedures
- Certification of successful completion of the Civil Service Commission, Human Resource Development Institute (HRDI) Support Specialist Program may be substituted for six months of the required experience
