Job Overview

Estimate Big. Build Bigger. Nationwide Turf Installation Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Lead Civil Construction Estimator to help drive our growing estimating department. This position is ideal for a seasoned professional with 3+ years of civil/site estimating experience who is ready to take the lead on complex site preparation, grading, curb, drainage, and related civil scopes.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with our estimating team to develop highly competitive bids and support all preconstruction activities. This is a fast-paced, deadline-driven position that requires precision, high-level organization, and a proactive leadership mindset.

    Key Responsibilities
  • Project Analysis: Thoroughly review bid invitations, plans, specifications, and addenda to understand the full project scope and requirements.
  • Take-Offs: Perform highly accurate quantity take-offs for earthwork, drainage, base preparation, utilities, and related civil scopes.
  • Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed cost estimates accounting for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor pricing.
  • Vendor Coordination: Coordinate the solicitation and strict evaluation of subcontractor and supplier quotes.
  • Documentation: Organize and maintain detailed estimating files, bid schedules, and project documentation.
  • Strategic Review: Participate in internal bid review meetings to identify scope gaps, risk items, and value engineering opportunities.
  • Proposal Submission: Support the accurate and timely preparation and submission of complete bid proposals.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate cross-functionally with operations and project management teams to ensure smooth, profitable project handoffs.
  • Qualifications
  • Experience: 3+ years of proven experience in construction estimating, civil/site work, field engineering, or related roles.
  • Industry Knowledge: Deep foundational understanding of civil construction methods, materials, and heavy equipment.
  • Software Skills: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Experience with Bluebeam, HCSS HeavyBid, PlanSwift, or similar estimating software is a strong plus.
  • Technical Literacy: Advanced ability to read and interpret complex construction drawings, specifications, and geotechnical reports.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Organization: Proven ability to manage multiple complex bids and tight deadlines simultaneously.
  • Communication: Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Drive: Self-motivated, highly organized, and eager to continue developing technical expertise and team leadership.
