About the position

The Lead Grants Management Analyst (Post-Award) is responsible for the
administration and oversight of post-award activities for sponsored projects,
ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations, as well
as sponsor-specific terms. This position provides expert guidance and
administrative support to investigators, administrators, and central offices,
serving as a primary liaison with sponsors and internal stakeholders. The Lead
Post-Award Analyst will manage award setup, modifications, and ongoing
compliance monitoring, while contributing to the development of post-award
workflows, training materials, and process improvements within the Office of
Sponsored Research (OSR). The role demands attention to detail, analytical
skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

    Responsibilities
  • Award Management & Compliance
    Review and process award notices, including new awards, non-competingcontinuations, modifications, and no-cost extensions.
  • Initiate award setup in collaboration with Finance team and other relevant
  • offices, ensuring accurate budgets, effort allocation, and compliance withsponsor and institutional policies.
  • Monitor award compliance, including effort reporting, subrecipient
  • monitoring, allowable costs, and deliverable schedules.
  • Approve and manage award transfers, carryforwards, and rebudgets, ensuring
  • sponsor approval where required.
  • Serve as institutional liaison with sponsors regarding post-award non-fiscal
  • issues and limited fiscal matters within delegated authority.
  • Review progress reports and Other Support documents to ensure accuracy,
  • completeness, and timely submission.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of all post-award actions in
  • electronic grant management system, Huron Grants.
  • Clinical Investigators & Department Support
    Provide guidance and training to investigators and administrators onpost-award requirements, policies, and procedures.
  • Serve as a resource for interpretation of sponsor terms, federal regulations
  • (e.g., Uniform Guidance), and institutional policies.
  • Assist investigators in partnership with the Finance team with understanding
  • award budgets, cost-sharing obligations, and allowable expenses.
  • Coordinate with departmental offices and other central stakeholders to
  • resolve post-award issues.
  • Training, Compliance, and Process Improvement
    Provide direction, procedural training, and assistance to investigators andadministrators on post-award policies, procedures, processes, and sponsorrequirements.
  • Participate in professional development activities, including regulatory
  • updates, sponsor communications, and training opportunities, to remaincurrent with evolving laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of post-award workflows, policies,
  • tools, systems, and reporting capabilities.
  • Assist in the onboarding and training of new post-award staff, as needed.
  • Team & Institutional Support
    Participate actively in OSR team meetings and cross-unit collaborations tosupport coordinated research administration services.
  • Provide coverage and backup support to other OSR team members during
  • high-volume periods, absences, or staff transitions.
  • Support OSR’s mission and service goals through collaboration and shared
  • responsibility.
  • Leadership & Mentorship
    Provide guidance, coaching, and mentorship to junior post-award staff and newOSR hires.
  • Support onboarding and training of new post-award team members by sharing
  • knowledge of award management, sponsor systems, and institutional policies.
  • Serve as a mentor and resource to support development of compliance,
  • problem-solving, and award management skills.
  • Lead or contribute to small initiatives or process improvement projects that
  • involve mentoring other team members.
  • Assist leadership in identifying staff development needs and supporting
  • succession planning.
  • Other Duties
    Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support OSR operations,compliance, and service excellence.
  • Leads the analysis, identification and preparation of new,
  • non-competing/competing continuation grant applications and other progressreports.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders and departments to coordinate complex
  • initiative applications and contract submissions; meets regularly with theleadership to review funding needs and potential funding opportunities.
  • Negotiates with funding agencies on behalf of the organization for research
  • grants and contracts; informs investigators of current funding agencyregulations and changes in administrative policy.
  • Makes investigators aware of support opportunities, and reviews proposals for
  • feasibility and compliance with regulations; assists investigators indeveloping proposals for internal as well as external support.
  • Authorizes expenses on grants and contracts, below specified limits.
  • Audits clinical research projects for compliance with internal and external
  • regulations and feasibility.
  • Compiles data for inclusion in and assists in the preparation of the Annual
  • Report for External Support, published by the Office of Grants andContracts.
  • Serves as staff to various committees.
  • Uses knowledge and skills to contribute to the development of functional
  • objectives and principles to achieve goals in innovative ways. Problemsaddressed are of diverse scope and complexity ranging from moderate tosubstantial.

    Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and
  • related experience.
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience and progressive experience where team
  • leadership was demonstrated, required.
    Nice-to-haves
  • 4–6 years of post-award administration experience in a post-award research
  • administration, grants management or sponsored projects administration.
  • Strong knowledge of post award requirements for sponsored projects, and
  • working knowledge of Uniform Guidance, federal cost principles, andsponsor-specific requirements.
  • Experience with electronic post-award management systems such as Huron,
  • Cayuse, InfoEd, or similar platforms.
  • Experience in grant and subrecipient monitoring, reporting, and compliance.
  • Experience interpreting and applying policies from multiple levels of
  • authority (federal, state, institutional).
  • Experience in academic research administration or a government/nonprofit
  • setting preferred.
