Job Description

Welcome! In January of 2024, Joe and Christie Esarey answered the call to plant a brand new church in Pike County, Indiana. The purpose of launching a brand new church was due to a burden for the community and the local spiritual drought found in this region. Church service in the area looked more like union meetings or social gatherings than a place to grow in Christ. Joe and Christie began with less than 12 people and with the complete renovation of the largest church facility in the area, more than 100 people attended the grand opening.

To date, the average attendance is between 80-90 with regular first time decisions for Christ and frequent baptisms. By design from the beginning, Joe and Christie only felt called to birth the church but not be the long term leaders of the ministry since they travel 2 hours each way every weekend from the Louisville, KY area where they reside. With almost two years of numerical and spiritual growth in the books, Joe and Christie are now seeking their replacement. Along with 25 years of ministry experience and being a graduate from Cedarville University with a Master of Divinity degree from Luther Rice Theological Seminary, Pastor Joe has well established a ministry that is ready for it's first full time Pastor.

Being a Non-Denominational church, Mosaic Church places a high priority on the expository preaching of God's word and evangelism. Attendance as of 8/24/25 was 107. God is at work at Mosaic Church. As with any church plant, in the early days if something needed done the pastor had to make it happen. With growth and placing people in the proper seats on the bus, the church is now structured in such a way that events are taking place nearly every night of the week without the pastor needing to be involved.

Monday-Recovery Groups, Tuesday-ladies Bible study and Champion Force Cheerleading, Wednesday-Mosaic Student Ministry, Thursday-Men's Bible Study. Every Fifth Sunday is GO SERVE. Instead of having church, Mosaic goes into the community to "be church". From nursing homes, to free community wide pancakes breakfasts and helping the elderly in the community with common household chores, Mosaic is about reaching the least of these with the love of Jesus. The primary role of the Lead Pastor will be to bring solid, Bible messages on Sunday morning.

At this time, Sunday morning is the only official "service" of the week. With a newly remodeled facility, the atmosphere is very welcoming with a huge cafe' in the worship center as soon as you enter. The full size gymnasium with a large kitchen, many classrooms and soccer fields provided for numerous outreach events and church fellowship opportunities. The campus comprises numerous facilities but has much undeveloped land for continued growth for new structures in the future. Just under the importance of strong Bible teaching/preaching and evangelism is the importance of creativity and "out of the box" approaches to ministry.

What has made Mosaic Church stand out like a purple cow is not being afraid to do new things and go against the "traditional grain". Applicants for this position do not need to be polished expositors of the Bible but do need to have some experience in preaching and must be devoted to the study and creative presentation of God's word. We welcome all recent graduates who are looking to take on their first church. We welcome any current Associate Pastors who have been in training and are ready to answer the call to pastor their first ministry.

Mosaic Church has a very healthy culture and is a very good and safe place for any pastor to begin leading. Mosaic Church is a Pastor led, Deacon served and congregationally supported minsitry. We look foward to hearing from you and perhaps conducting an informal interview. This position for Lead Pastor is open but Pastor Joe is readily available to assist any new pastor coming in who may need some guidance or direction. Pastor Joe has no intention or desire to remain in the church living 2 hours away.

However, he has made it clear that he can be called upon by any new pastor who may need assistance in any way. We look forward to seeing who God brings to Mosaic Church in Petersburg, Indiana. See our service online at www.Mosaic-Church.net. Follow us on Facebook at Mosaic Church Petersburg. May God richly bless and guide you as you seek His next assignment for your minsitry.
