Stewart Title is a leading provider of residential and commercial title insurance. They are seeking a Legal Assistant / Law Clerk - Claims Associate to review tax, water, and common expense claims for insureds/claimants, ensuring compliance with insuring provisions and preparing necessary documentation. Responsibilities Reviewing tax, water and common expense claims in accordance with Insuring provisions to determine whether claim is covered Performing tax and water calculations Preparing cheque requisitions for covered claims and forwarding payments to Insured/municipalities Requesting additional documentation in relation to all the inquiries set forth above Contacting Insured/law firms/municipalities to obtain required information and communicate results of the investigation Handling general claim inquiry calls Sending out follow up status request on pending files in a timely manner Other duties as assigned or required Skills Law Clerk or Legal Assistant Diploma 1-3 years relevant experience in real estate an asset Knowledge of accounting practices Full understanding of closing procedures including Statement of Adjustments Excellent verbal and written communication, customer service, organizational, and problem-solving skills Excellent attention to detail Ability to work well in a team Resourceful in nature Good computer literacy and knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, and Excel) Advanced knowledge of Excel is required Company Overview Stewart Title is a global real estate services company.
