Job Description

St. Charles County Government is seeking a Legal Secretary to provide legal support and trial preparation for the Prosecuting Attorney's Office. The role involves managing case information, preparing legal documents, and coordinating schedules for trials and hearings. Responsibilities Enters warrant applications, opens cases, and closes cases in case management systems Enters various confidential information relating to prosecution Scans or uploads all documents, photographs, videos, and other electronic media into case management systems Prepares, transcribes, and edits legal documents to be used in trials and legal proceedings Electronically files documents with the court through the Missouri Case.net system Orders, retrieves, subpoenas, reviews, scans, uploads, and redacts confidential information and documents including but not limited to criminal histories, warrant applications, medical and scientific records, photos, videos, and assessments Reviews and troubleshoots the viewing of electronic media for all staff and prosecutors Contacts places of origin for electronic media to troubleshoot the viewing of media for use in prosecution Prepares court and hearing schedules Maintains and coordinates calendars Checks trial dockets, enters and tracks dates for trials, hearings, court announcements, and other proceedings Prepares discovery and meets with law enforcement officers and defense attorneys when necessary Verifies all discovery has been ordered/received and sent to defense attorneys Sends transcripts to witnesses for signatures or corrections Provides witnesses with proper information necessary to prepare for trial Calls off witnesses when necessary Skills Provide legal support, trial preparation and coordination of information and data entry into various case management systems for prosecutors and team leaders related to warrant applications, traffic, misdemeanor, felony, and civil cases Enter warrant applications, open cases, and close cases in case management systems Enter various confidential information relating to prosecution Scan or upload all documents, photographs, videos, and other electronic media into case management systems Prepare, transcribe, and edit legal documents to be used in trials and legal proceedings Electronically file documents with the court through the Missouri Case.net system Order, retrieve, subpoena, review, scan, upload, and redact confidential information and documents including but not limited to criminal histories, warrant applications, medical and scientific records, photos, videos, and assessments Review and troubleshoot the viewing of electronic media for all staff and prosecutors Contact places of origin for electronic media to troubleshoot the viewing of media for use in prosecution Prepare court and hearing schedules Maintain and coordinate calendars Check trial dockets, enter and track dates for trials, hearings, court announcements, and other proceedings Prepare discovery and meet with law enforcement officers and defense attorneys when necessary Verify all discovery has been ordered/received and sent to defense attorneys Send transcripts to witnesses for signatures or corrections Provide witnesses with proper information necessary to prepare for trial Call off witnesses when necessary Benefits Paid Time Off Extended Medical Leave Holidays Employee Health Dental Life Disability Retirement Tuition Assistance programs Company Overview Founded in 1812, St.
