Job Type: Contract (Project-Based, Potential for Ongoing Work) Location: Remote (U.S. Preferred) Client Company: Confidential (Technology Platform – Marketplace/Product-Based) Job Description We are a fast-growing, product-driven platform building a data-powered user experience with a strong focus on automation, engagement, and retention. We are seeking a Lifecycle Marketing / CRM Consultant to design and implement the systems that power our user communication β€” including email, SMS, push notifications, and behavioral automation. This role is responsible for owning the lifecycle strategy and execution, from user onboarding to long-term retention and conversion. This is not a basic email marketing role. We are looking for someone who has built and deployed lifecycle systems from the ground up. Role Overview This role sits at the intersection of: β€’ Lifecycle Marketing (CRM) β€’ Product Behavior & User Flows β€’ Marketing Operations / Automation Systems You will define: β€’ What we send β€’ When we send it β€’ Why users receive it β€’ How systems trigger it What You’ll Be Responsible For1. Lifecycle Marketing Ownership (CRM) You will be the primary owner of our lifecycle and communication systems. Responsibilities include: β€’ Email automation flows (welcome, onboarding, alerts, re-engagement, conversion) β€’ Push and SMS strategy β€’ User segmentation (hot / warm / cold users) β€’ Engagement optimization (open rates, CTR, retention, churn) β€’ Campaign calendar and automation logic 2. User Flows & Product-Driven Triggers β€’ Map full user journeys: β€’ Signup β†’ onboarding β†’ activation β†’ retention β†’ upgrade β€’ Define what behaviors should trigger communication: β€’ Example: saved searches, new opportunities, inactivity, engagement signals β€’ Work alongside product/development to align messaging with platform behavior 3. Tech Stack Strategy & Implementation β€’ Recommend and implement lifecycle tools such as: β€’ Customer.io β€’ Klaviyo β€’ HubSpot β€’ Define system architecture (CRM, messaging tools, backend integration) β€’ Ensure scalability, performance, and cost efficiency 4. Marketing Operations / System Deployment β€’ Build and deploy automation systems: β€’ Event tracking β€’ Data pipelines β€’ Workflow logic β€’ A/B testing frameworks β€’ Work with developers to integrate APIs and ensure proper data flow 5. Performance & Optimization β€’ Analyze lifecycle performance: β€’ Which emails drive conversions β€’ What increases retention β€’ Where users drop off β€’ Continuously optimize flows, timing, and segmentation How This Role Fits Into the Team This role combines responsibilities typically split across: β€’ Lifecycle Marketing Manager / CRM Manager β€’ Marketing Operations / Marketing Engineer β€’ Growth / Product Collaboration You will: β€’ Own what gets sent and how it performs β€’ Help define when and why it gets triggered β€’ Ensure systems are actually built and running Required Experience (Must Have) We are ONLY considering candidates who can demonstrate: β€’ Proven experience building and deploying lifecycle systems from scratch β€’ Hands-on experience with platforms such as: β€’ Customer.io, Iterable, or Braze β€’ Strong understanding of: β€’ Event-driven automation β€’ Behavioral segmentation β€’ User lifecycle design β€’ Experience working with developers and product teams Required Application Details (Mandatory) To be considered, applicants MUST include: 1. Past Work β€’ Examples of lifecycle systems you have built β€’ Platforms/tools used β€’ Your exact role (strategy vs. implementation vs. both) 2. Deployment Breakdown (Minimum 2 Projects) For each project, include: β€’ What the system did (onboarding, alerts, retention, etc.) β€’ Tools used β€’ How it was implemented (API, native integration, custom setup) β€’ Results (if available: conversion, retention, engagement metrics) 3. Technical Approach (Short Answer) β€œHow would you structure lifecycle automation for a multi-sided marketplace platform?” Nice to Have β€’ Experience with: β€’ PostHog or Mixpanel β€’ Marketplace or SaaS experience β€’ Subscription or freemium model experience What Success Looks Like β€’ Fully operational lifecycle system tied to real user behavior β€’ Automated flows driving engagement and conversion β€’ Clear segmentation and messaging strategy β€’ Scalable infrastructure for long-term growth Pay: $100.00 - $300.00 per hour Work Location: Remote
