About the position
This position oversees the Mass Care programs for Disaster Cycle Services at the American Red Cross, focusing on sheltering, feeding, distribution of emergency supplies, and reunification. As part of the National Headquarters Operations, this role involves managing a team, coordinating with various stakeholders, and ensuring the effective implementation of mass care programs to assist underserved communities impacted by disasters. Responsibilities β’ Manages and directs a team responsible for mass care program development and continuous improvement including sheltering, feeding, distribution of emergency supplies, and reunification.
β’ Coordinates with internal stakeholders while overseeing the development of doctrine and tools for field implementation of programs. β’ Leads teams in the development of mass care-related training. β’ Serves as the National Deputy Assistant Director of Response, supporting the implementation of mass care programs on Disaster Relief Operations at scale. β’ Oversees the development, implementation, and adoption of Mass Care systems with regions, divisions, and Disaster Relief Operations. β’ Engages with government agencies and non-governmental organizations to implement the strategic vision of the organization to provide assistance to underserved communities impacted by disasters.
β’ Works with divisions and regions to build mass care capacity to meet regional, divisional and national readiness targets. Requirements β’ Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; degree in emergency management, public administration, or organizational development preferred. β’ 5-7 years experience in nonprofit, for-profit or government with a track record of leadership results. β’ 3-5 years of staff management experience. β’ Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
β’ Demonstrated ability to coach/mentor to accomplish work through team leaders. β’ Ability to develop project plans and create presentations and training modules. β’ Demonstrated analytical and decision-making skills. β’ Proven track record of collaboration with diverse groups and individuals, managing multiple priorities, facilitation, problem-solving, leadership, and partnership management. β’ Intermediate level proficiency with MS Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
