Role Overview
- We are hiring for one of our clients seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to support the design, development, and optimization of medium and high-voltage power transformers (up to 69 kV / 20 MVA). This role plays a critical part in advancing smart grid systems, renewable energy integration, and modern digital monitoring technologies. The engineer will contribute to building eco-efficient, reliable, and high-performance transformer systems essential to global energy transition efforts.Key Responsibilities
- Design mechanical components and assemblies that meet safety, performance, and cost objectives.
- Conduct calculations and simulations for stress, thermal performance, structural analysis, and cooling requirements.
- Develop mechanical layouts, cooling systems, and structural components based on customer specifications.
- Design winding and insulation systems ensuring thermal efficiency and high-voltage reliability.
- Collaborate with global teams across engineering, manufacturing, and testing functions.
- Prepare detailed engineering documentation and participate in technical discussions with customers.
- Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles to streamline production and reduce lead times.
- Ensure adherence to IEEE, ASME, ISO, UL, and other international standards.
- Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelorβs or Masterβs degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical design or product development.
- Strong proficiency in SolidWorks, 3D CAD tools, simulation tools, and automation workflows.
- Deep understanding of structural materials, thermal systems, fluid dynamics, and mechanical components.
- Knowledge of transformer core materials, winding techniques, insulation, and electromagnetics.
- Experience collaborating with global engineering teams.
- Experience with SAP is an advantage.
