About the position
The Media Specialist is a junior-level position that helps facilitate the skills and learning required to become a Media Planner/Buyer. The Media Specialist assists with the planning and implementation of paid advertising in print, digital, paid search, out-of-home, broadcast TV, cable TV, radio, and social media outlets. They work hand-in-hand with the media planner/buyers as well as key members of the account and project management teams to ensure that campaigns are executed correctly.
Media Specialists possess an understanding of paid media channels (e.g., social media, search, display) and may have a specialized skill set in one or more areas. Responsibilities β’ Contributes to the development and refinement of media strategies and planning decisions. β’ Leads execution of media campaign scheduling, setup, and monitoring of advertising placements. β’ Collaborates with Digital Marketing Solutions leads and cross-functional teams to plan and execute media strategies, including integrating paid and organic search and social, while partnering with Experience and Technology team on email marketing, lead generation, website/landing page optimizations and development and other emerging technologies.
β’ Works closely with agency teams to ensure timely delivery of ad creatives and assets for campaign implementation. β’ Communicates with media vendors to coordinate campaign details, resolve issues, and secure necessary documentation. β’ Has ability to represent the interests of the agency with media vendors and may also be asked to negotiate and secure optimal placements. β’ Develops and sends insertion orders (IOs) to media outlets. β’ Manages and updates media calendars and IOs throughout the campaign.
β’ Gathers specs and deadlines to build and maintain media materials documents. β’ Generates tracking links, creates tags, and traffics/monitors digital media buys in Campaign Manager. β’ Traffics creative assets and instructions between agencies, publishers, and digital vendors. β’ Sets up campaigns in bolthires Ads and other platforms. β’ Monitors and tracks campaign budgets; assists with optimizing ad placements and managing bids. β’ Works closely with the accounting department on billing and invoice reconciliation.
β’ Compiles and organizes campaign performance data for analysis. β’ Assists in preparing regular reports on key performance indicators. tDevelops, updates, and maintains vendor contact lists and collects media kits. β’ Supports senior team members with any media planning, buying, research, or presentation requests as needed. β’ Supports agency digital marketing efforts as needed, including contributing to THRIVE internal training, digital team training, and new business efforts. β’ Acquires and maintains appropriate marketing certifications, attends webinars, reads industry blogs, and follows digital thought leaders to stay on top of the ever-evolving digital landscape.
