Job Description
Mercer is a global leader in risk, reinsurance, and capital management consulting. They are seeking a Career Consulting Analyst to join their team, where you will provide analytical support to senior consultants and help develop strategic human resource solutions for clients. The role involves conducting market research, analyzing compensation trends, and preparing client reports and presentations.
Responsibilities
- Conduct market research and analysis to understand industry and organization-specific issues, including compensation and rewards trends, business strategy, corporate performance, and hiring and retention challenges
- Combine an understanding of clients’ internal needs with external market practices to help facilitate a client’s go-forward rewards strategy and programs
- Analyze clients' strategic, financial, and organizational information to provide insights that will develop into talent strategies and solutions
- Design and implement executive, workforce, and sales compensation structures and incentive plans to align pay and performance with corporate strategic objectives
- Develop and implement job evaluation systems and performance management programs
- Perform pay equity diagnostics that drive clients’ pay equity compliance strategy for provincially and/or federally-regulated clients
- Prepare client reports and presentations, including recommendations presented to senior management, HR leaders, boards of directors, and executives
- Example projects include: Designing and implementing a gender-neutral, pay equity-compliant job evaluation system to determine a company’s internal hierarchy
- Executive and non-executive compensation benchmarking
- Conducting trends research regarding short and long-term incentive programs
- Developing a base salary and bonus program for non-executive employees
- Creating a compensation program for sales positions, including commissions
- Creating a career architecture including elements such as role profiles and career path tools
Skills
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, both quantitative and qualitative
- Strong working knowledge of Excel including advanced formulas (VLOOKUP, INDEX (MATCH), COUNTIF, AVERAGEIF, etc.) and developing analysis files and dashboards
- Demonstrated experience in data analysis and presentation design
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Intellectual curiosity and a drive to understand 'the why', seeking opportunities to develop deeper understanding and new skills
- Flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to work under tight deadlines and changing client needs
- Superior organizational skills and strong attention to detail
- Completing a Bachelor's degree majoring in commerce, business, economics, finance, statistics, accounting, mathematics, psychology or HR preferred by Spring 2026
- Consulting, business, finance/banking, accounting, HR, and/or economics internship experience preferred
- Demonstrated academic excellence with a minimum GPA of 3.0
- Involvement in extra-curricular activities, clubs and/or sports teams preferred
