Job Description
We are building a niche multi-vendor marketplace on WooCommerce (using the MarketKing multi-vendor plugin). Sellers fulfill their own orders and receive payouts directly. We are seeking an experienced WooCommerce developer with marketplace payment and compliance experience to ensure our platform is correctly configured for launch.
Responsibilities:
We need help with the following (in priority order):
Payments & Payouts Setup
Configure Stripe Connect for multi-vendor payouts
Configure PayPal for marketplace payouts (PayPal Payments / PayPal for Marketplaces)
Verify onboarding flows for sellers (KYC, payouts, failed onboarding handling)
Tax & Compliance Setup
Sales tax handling (US)
1099-K / tax reporting setup for sellers
Marketplace fee reporting
Ensure compliance with marketplace tax rules and Stripe/PayPal requirements
Bug Fixing & Platform QA
Investigate and fix plugin compatibility or marketplace logic issues
Help ensure order splitting, commissions, and checkout behave correctly
General performance & reliability improvements
Potential ongoing monthly retainer for marketplace improvements

What Success Looks Like:
Buyers can check out smoothly (single or multiple vendors)
Sellers can onboard, connect payment accounts, and receive payouts
Platform fees are collected correctly
Tax reporting paths are in place for US launch
No blocking bugs for marketplace launch

Marketplace compliance (US)
Sales tax tooling (Avalara, TaxJar, WooTax, etc.)
Stripe Connect custom/platform experience
Experience with multi-vendor plugin ecosystems such as Dokan / WCFM / WC Vendors / MarketKing
