Sierra Nevada Corporation is a global leader in aerospace and national security committed to innovation. As a Network Engineer I, you will support LAN/WAN implementations and resolve issues in a corporate network environment, ensuring seamless operations across multiple sites and platforms.


Responsibilities

  • Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability
  • Use network monitoring tools to identify and resolve issues
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot network problems, including hardware and software issues
  • Provide technical support to end-users and resolve connectivity issues
  • Assist in configuring and installing network devices, such as routers, switches, and firewalls
  • Support the setup and maintenance of wireless networks
  • Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, changes, and procedures
  • Generate reports on network performance and incidents
  • Assist in implementing network security measures, such as firewalls and intrusion detection systems
  • Ensure network compliance with organizational policies and industry standards
  • Work closely with senior network engineers and other IT staff to support network projects and initiatives
  • Collaborate with vendors and service providers to resolve technical issues
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest networking technologies and best practices
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities

Skills

  • Associate's degree in a related field
  • 0-2 years of experience in a related field
  • Relevant experience can be considered as a substitute for the required educational qualifications. In the absence of a degree, a minimum of 4 years of related experience is required
  • FAA Class III Medical Certification required. Candidates without current certification must obtain it prior to hire
  • Ability to complete Altitude Chamber training and qualification
  • Basic understanding of network protocols and services [e.g., Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), Domain Name System (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP)]
  • Familiarity with networking switching equipment and systems
  • Familiarity with wireless and Virtual Private Network (VPN) implementations
  • Familiarity with AI in troubleshooting network issues
  • An Active Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance with SCI Eligibility is required
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification
  • Experience with SWAN technologies
  • Exposure to network security practices and tools
  • Hands-on experience with a wide variety of network related tools, concepts, technologies, best practices and security procedures
  • Hands-on experience with network hardware, protocols, and media including but not limited to Fiber Optics and Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP)
  • Knowledge of Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN), DNS, DHCP, and wireless
  • Hands on experience with network hardware - installing, configuring and troubleshooting
  • Hands-on experience with network automation platforms
  • Conceptual understanding of zero trust networking principles
