Sierra Nevada Corporation is a global leader in aerospace and national security committed to innovation. As a Network Engineer I, you will support LAN/WAN implementations and resolve issues in a corporate network environment, ensuring seamless operations across multiple sites and platforms.
Responsibilities
- Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability
- Use network monitoring tools to identify and resolve issues
- Diagnose and troubleshoot network problems, including hardware and software issues
- Provide technical support to end-users and resolve connectivity issues
- Assist in configuring and installing network devices, such as routers, switches, and firewalls
- Support the setup and maintenance of wireless networks
- Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, changes, and procedures
- Generate reports on network performance and incidents
- Assist in implementing network security measures, such as firewalls and intrusion detection systems
- Ensure network compliance with organizational policies and industry standards
- Work closely with senior network engineers and other IT staff to support network projects and initiatives
- Collaborate with vendors and service providers to resolve technical issues
- Stay up-to-date with the latest networking technologies and best practices
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities
Skills
- Associate's degree in a related field
- 0-2 years of experience in a related field
- Relevant experience can be considered as a substitute for the required educational qualifications. In the absence of a degree, a minimum of 4 years of related experience is required
- FAA Class III Medical Certification required. Candidates without current certification must obtain it prior to hire
- Ability to complete Altitude Chamber training and qualification
- Basic understanding of network protocols and services [e.g., Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), Domain Name System (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP)]
- Familiarity with networking switching equipment and systems
- Familiarity with wireless and Virtual Private Network (VPN) implementations
- Familiarity with AI in troubleshooting network issues
- An Active Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance with SCI Eligibility is required
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification
- Experience with SWAN technologies
- Exposure to network security practices and tools
- Hands-on experience with a wide variety of network related tools, concepts, technologies, best practices and security procedures
- Hands-on experience with network hardware, protocols, and media including but not limited to Fiber Optics and Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP)
- Knowledge of Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN), DNS, DHCP, and wireless
- Hands on experience with network hardware - installing, configuring and troubleshooting
- Hands-on experience with network automation platforms
- Conceptual understanding of zero trust networking principles
