We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Remote Optical Prescription Verification Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing, validating, and ensuring the accuracy of optical prescriptions submitted through our online platforms, facilitating safe and compliant prescription fulfillment. You will collaborate closely with customer support, optical lab teams, and internal departments to resolve issues and maintain high standards of accuracy and quality.
Key Responsibilities
Prescription Review & Verification
Review and validate patient-submitted optical prescriptions (eyeglasses and contact lenses) for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
Error Detection & Resolution
Identify incomplete, unclear, or potentially inaccurate prescriptions and follow up with patients, providers, or internal teams for clarification.
Documentation & Record Keeping
Accurately document prescription details, verification outcomes, and communications in company systems to maintain up-to-date records.
Collaboration with Support Teams
Partner with customer service, lab operations, and dispensing teams to ensure smooth order processing and timely resolution of prescription-related issues.
Quality Assurance
Monitor prescription data for consistency, flag trends in errors, and suggest process improvements that enhance quality and reduce rework.
Compliance & Confidentiality
Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA and company privacy policies while ensuring compliance with relevant optical health regulations.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred)
Prior experience in optical prescription verification, optometry, optical lab coordination, or a related healthcare/admin support role
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in reviewing and interpreting prescription information
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to clarify issues professionally by email or phone
Ability to work independently in a remote environment and manage time effectively
Familiarity with optical terminology, prescription formats, and basic lens parameter understanding
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems or optical practice management software
Prior customer service or clinical support experience in eye care or optical retail
Knowledge of HIPAA privacy rules and healthcare compliance standards
Work Schedule
Flexible remote schedule with specific core hours required (9 AM–5 PM Eastern Time)
Availability required for occasional evenings or weekends depending on workflow
