Position Title: Part-Time Accountant (estimated 20 hours per month) Location: Remote (Twin Cities, Minnesota preferred) Salary: $35 - $40 per hour POSITION SUMMARY One Village Partners is seeking a detail-oriented Part-Time Accountant to support U.S.-based financial close, oversight, and compliance functions. This role is intentionally scoped to focus on monthly close, review, and reporting, rather than day-to-day transaction processing. Reporting to the Executive Director, the position works closely with the Director of Finance & Operations (based in Sierra Leone), who oversees daily accounting operations, and serves as a key quality-control and compliance function to ensure accurate financial reporting and successful annual filings. This is a remote, part-time role averaging 15β20 hours per month, with additional hours during year-end close, audit, and annual filing periods. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES Monthly Close & Financial Reporting β’ Lead and manage the U.S. monthly close process in coordination with the Director of Finance & Operations and other internal finance staff. β’ Prepare and review recurring month-end journal entries and supporting schedules. β’ Produce timely, accurate monthly financial statements and supporting documentation. β’ Perform high-level analytical review of financial results and identify unusual trends or variances. Oversight & Reconciliations β’ Review balance sheet reconciliations for completeness, accuracy, and proper support. β’ Ensure consistency and integrity across bank, payroll, receivable, payable, and investment accounts. β’ Maintain organized workpapers to support internal review and external audit requirements. Revenue & Payroll Review β’ Prepare and review monthly revenue reports covering donations, pledges, grants, and receivables to ensure accurate recognition, reconciliation, and financial reporting. β’ Review payroll-related entries and liabilities for accuracy and compliance. Year-End Close, Audit, & Compliance β’ Support and lead U.S. accounting activities for year-end close. β’ Prepare audit schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation. β’ Coordinate with external auditors and support annual compliance filings, including 1099s. Continuous Improvement β’ Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, clarity, and consistency in monthly close and reporting processes. QUALIFICATIONS Required β’ Bachelorβs degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience. β’ 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in nonprofit or fund accounting. β’ Strong experience with month-end close and financial statement preparation. β’ Proficiency with QuickBooks Online or similar accounting systems. β’ Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and exercise sound professional judgment. Preferred β’ Experience with nonprofit accounting and donor-restricted funds. β’ Familiarity with ADP payroll and Blackbaud/Raiserβs Edge. β’ Experience supporting audits and annual filings. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS Reports to Executive Director. Works closely with internal finance, fundraising, and leadership teams, as well as OVP Treasurer/Chair of Finance Committee and external auditors. TIME COMMITMENT β’ Part-time role averaging 15β20 hours per month. β’ Hours are concentrated around monthly close. β’ Additional hours expected during year-end close, audit, and annual filing periods.
