Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Coding Specialist-Neurosurgical to work per diem/moonlight. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately coding neurosurgical spine and brain procedures only. Someone with experience in neurosurgical coding is needed Responsibilities β’ Review and analyze patient medical records to assign appropriate codes using ICD-10 and ICD-9 coding systems. β’ Ensure accurate coding for diagnoses, procedures, and services provided to patients. β’ Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and ensure compliance with coding guidelines. β’ Process medical billing and collections efficiently, addressing any discrepancies or issues that arise. β’ Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding regulations, including DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) classifications. β’ Assist in the management of medical records, ensuring they are complete, accurate, and securely stored. β’ Participate in audits and quality assurance processes to uphold coding accuracy and compliance. Experience β’ Proven experience in medical coding within a healthcare setting is required. Spine surgery coding experience is necessary β’ Familiarity with medical billing processes and collections is a plus. β’ Strong understanding of ICD-10, ICD-9, DRG classifications, and other relevant coding systems. β’ Experience working with electronic health record (EHR) systems is advantageous. β’ Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills are essential for managing complex medical records. β’ Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while maintaining confidentiality of patient information.
