About the position
Established in 1995, Mueting Raasch Group (MRG) is a dynamic intellectual property law firm dedicated to helping innovators protect their ideas. We are seeking a Patent Agent that specializes in organic chemistry or a related scientific field. The Patent Agent will assist clients with intellectual property management and protection, including the preparation and prosecution of high-technology patent applications.
- Responsibilities
- Evaluates the viability of patent requests; completes and files patent applications.
- Maintains knowledge of scientific, technological, and legal developments.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Requirements
- Superior verbal and written communication skills.
- Thorough understanding of technology and scientific developments.
- Thorough understanding of intellectual property law with emphasis on patent prosecution.
- Excellent interpersonal and client service skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced/volume, and at times, stressful environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 or related software.
- Bachelor's degree in organic chemistry, or a related scientific field.
- Advanced degree in a science-related field required.
- Successfully passed the Patent Bar Exam required.
- Registration to Practice before the USPTO is required.

- We offer a competitive salary. The salary range reflects various factors considered in compensation decisions, including, but not limited to, relevant skills, training, experience, education, licensure, and/or certifications, as well as other job-related factors. A reasonable estimate for someone hired into this position is $90,000 to $150,000.
