Overview We are seeking a dedicated Per Diem OASIS Coding & Review Specialist (Home Health) to. This role is ideal for professionals with a strong background in medical coding and documentation review, offering flexible per diem hours. The specialist will be responsible for ensuring accurate coding, review, and compliance with industry standards to support high-quality home health services. Candidates should possess comprehensive knowledge of DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and related medical billing practices.
Prior experience with EMR/EHR systems and medical records management is essential. Responsibilities • Review and analyze home health medical records for accuracy and completeness • Perform detailed OASIS data collection and validation to ensure compliance with regulatory standards • Apply appropriate DRG, CPT, ICD-9, and ICD-10 coding conventions during record review • Ensure proper documentation supports billing and reimbursement processes • Collaborate with clinical staff to clarify documentation discrepancies or ambiguities • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines, industry regulations, and best practices • Assist in audits and quality assurance activities related to medical records and coding accuracy • Utilize EMR/EHR systems effectively to document findings and update patient records Qualifications • Proven experience in medical coding, including DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding standards • Strong understanding of medical billing, collections, and revenue cycle processes • Prior experience working with EMR/EHR systems within a home health or outpatient setting • Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with medical records management • Ability to interpret complex clinical documentation accurately • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to home health services is preferred • Certification in Medical Coding and OASIS is required.
