Job Description
UK HealthCare is dedicated to providing quality health services and is seeking a Pharmacist Program Coordinator. This role focuses on developing and optimizing pharmacy policies and protocols to ensure safe medication use while collaborating with clinical experts and managing pharmacy initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Work with subject matter experts in the development and optimization of the Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee, pharmacy policies, protocols, guidelines and technologies to promote safe medication use and enterprise efficiency
- Standardize medication procurement, inventory, utilization, and billing in ambulatory clinics
- Develop a formulary-like system to review medication utilization in clinics
- Assist with onboarding and new medication requests, including enterprise wide vaccine use
- Maintain good working relationships with clinical experts across the department and enterprise
- Assist with the coordination of materials development, meeting execution, and facilitation of educational activities for the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committees and other clinical initiatives
- Maintain formulary drug information tools and databases
- Work with the clinic procurement team to implement standard request, procurement, and fulfillment workflows
- Work with newly built and expanded clinics to onboard them to UKHC medication utilization processes
- Provide project management of the P&T Committee to coordinate the P&T process from request, build, validation and implementation
- Contribute to the activities related to pharmacy quality and safety by actively pursuing quality improvement initiatives, process improvement and other opportunities to streamline workflow and increase safety
- Actively participate in process improvement initiatives, interdisciplinary committees, and the education and training of residents, students, and staff

- The physical requirements of this position include: occasionally lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects up to and over 25lbs; occasionally standing or walking with objects up to 15lbs; sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods of time while performing repetitive motions (such as typing); standing for extended periods of time, sometimes greater than 5 hours per day; and traversing several miles across and on campus for meetings and work on a regular basis
- PGY1 and/or PGY2 Residency in Med Use Safety, Administration, Drug Information, Infectious Diseases, other clinical specialties, or equivalent experience
- The ideal candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of inpatient drug distribution
- Knowledge of pharmacy and healthcare related regulations and standards
