Why This Role Matters
As a Pharmacy Customer Service Associate at arenaflex, you will be the friendly face and trusted voice that guides patients through their pharmacy journey. Your role bridges the gap between cutting‑edge pharmacy technology, regulatory compliance, and the human touch that makes every interaction memorable. This position is perfect for individuals who enjoy mixing customer service flair with a solid foundation in pharmacy operations.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Experience & Service Excellence
- Greet every customer and patient with warmth, professionalism, and genuine empathy.
- Proactively identify customer needs, offer assistance, and ensure each interaction ends with a satisfied smile.
- Model best‑practice service habits—eye contact, active listening, and clear communication—to inspire teammates.
- Resolve questions, concerns, or issues quickly, escalating to the pharmacist when necessary while maintaining a calm demeanor.
- Provide guidance on over‑the‑counter (OTC) products, helping customers locate items and suggesting complementary solutions.
Front‑Counter Operations
- Operate the assigned cash register, processing sales efficiently while maintaining accuracy in cash handling, refunds, voids, and exchanges.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well‑stocked checkout area that reflects arenaflex’s brand standards.
- Recommend additional items, trade‑up products, and promotional offers that enhance the customer’s purchase experience.
Pharmacy Support & Compliance
- Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, with prescription intake, data entry, and medication dispensing using arenaflex pharmacy systems.
- Accurately retrieve, count, and pour pharmaceutical drugs, verifying dosage, labeling, and potential drug interactions.
- Report any prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty and follow arenaflex’s quality improvement protocols.
- Handle non‑clinical phone calls, including calls to physicians, and process third‑party claim corrections in a timely manner.
- Support inventory management tasks: receiving shipments, checking product integrity, pricing merchandise, and filing discrepancy claims.
- Ensure strict adherence to state, federal, and local regulations regarding controlled substances, alcohol, and tobacco sales.
Store Maintenance & Visual Merchandising
- Maintain spotless counters, aisles, and shelves; conduct regular stock rotation using the First‑In‑First‑Out (FIFO) method.
- Build and refresh promotional displays, seasonal structures, and point‑of‑sale signage to drive sales.
- Assist with food‑safety placement rules (e.g., raw meats on lower shelves) and keep the store’s exterior and interior tidy.
- Provide photo‑center services, including digital passport photos, poster prints, and promotion of creative‑machine products.
- Manage web‑pick‑up orders, ensuring accurate fulfillment and friendly hand‑off to awaiting customers.
Training, Certification, and Personal Development
- Earn and maintain PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) certification through designated training programs.
- Complete ongoing education modules, PPLs (Performance Planning Lists), and corporate training to stay current on healthcare trends.
- Participate in cross‑training opportunities that broaden expertise in pharmacy operations, retail merchandising, and customer engagement.
Essential Qualifications
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in health‑related fields is a plus.
- Strong mathematical aptitude for accurate medication counting, measuring, and pricing.
- Basic computer literacy and comfort navigating point‑of‑sale and pharmacy software.
- Demonstrated ability to follow detailed procedural guidelines and regulatory requirements.
Preferred Qualifications & Desired Experience
- At least six months of experience in a retail environment, preferably within a pharmacy setting.
- Prior experience working for arenaflex or a comparable pharmacy chain.
- PTCB certification or a clear path to obtaining it within the first six months of employment.
- Proficiency in inventory control systems and familiarity with store merchandising practices.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a track record of delivering high‑quality customer service.
- Ability to thrive in a team‑oriented environment while also handling independent responsibilities.
Core Skills and Competencies for Success

- Attention to Detail: Precision in prescription entry, medication dispensing, and cash handling.
- Compliance Awareness: Understanding of pharmacy laws, Good Faith Dispensing policies, and privacy regulations (HIPAA).
- Communication: Clear, courteous verbal and written communication with customers, pharmacists, and team members.
