Fixed-term, part time role working 16 hours per week. Parental leave cover from June 2026 to July 2027 Location is flexible across Te Tai Tokerau, however travel will be required. About the Role As the Professional Lead – Speech Language Therapy, you will provide strong, visible, and strategic leadership across Health New Zealand - Te Tai Tokerau, championing clinical excellence and supporting a thriving, high‑performing workforce. Working in partnership with operational leaders, you will create a coordinated, system-wide approach that ensures consistent, equitable services. Your role will be central in shaping cohesive, integrated speech and language services by fostering collaboration across professions, supporting consistent standards of practice, and ensuring equitable access to care for communities across Te Tai Tokerau. You will play a key role in strengthening clinical governance, workforce capability, and the sustainability of speech language services. This includes overseeing credentialing and compliance, leading training and supervision, and supporting proactive workforce planning. You’ll also drive improvement initiatives, with a focus on preventive care and better outcomes for Māori, Pacific, and underserved populations. As a senior clinical leader, you will influence system governance, contribute to policy development, and take on additional strategic responsibilities as required to support service performance and continuous improvement across the region. For more information on living and working in Northland, click here About you To be considered for this role, you must have a minimum of 7 years’ experience as a Speech Language Therapist, with proven ability to provide professional advice to team members in relation to clinical skills and practice. Relevant allied health tertiary qualification, with current NZ annual practising certificate Relevant postgraduate qualifications Current NZ drivers licence Knowledge of current standards of practice and experience relating to clinical service provisions Previous experience in project management – quality improvement initiatives, change management, including drafting business cases Proven knowledge and understanding of the hospital, the local community and issues Working at Health New Zealand Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
