About The Role
We’re seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead an advanced portfolio of complex, cross-functional projects supporting the evolving needs of the department. This role partners closely with departmental leadership to develop and deliver project plans aligned with organizational strategy, with a strong emphasis on process improvement and change management.
You will also serve as a consultant and facilitator on cross-disciplinary initiatives that leverage the department’s expertise and drive measurable operational improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Identification
- Identify and organize projects by defining scope, goals, and deliverables
- Perform needs analyses to confirm departmental and institutional needs are met
- Identify key stakeholders and appropriate project team members
- Project Initiation & Planning
- Secure project approval; confirm resource availability, timelines, and financial commitments
- Facilitate stakeholder discussions to align on outcomes, priorities, and success measures
- Coordinate complex customer input, ideas, and feedback across teams
- Create detailed project documentation, including work breakdown structures, schedules, and roles/responsibilities
- Communicate project objectives, milestones, and expectations to project teams
- Present project plans and updates to stakeholders and varied audiences
- Project Execution
- Manage end-to-end execution: track progress, manage issues, and mitigate risks
- Build strong relationships across collaborating departments and teams
- Meet regularly with project sponsors to:
- Report on progress toward milestones and overall project status
- Provide insights into project health and key risks
- Proactively escalate issues and recommend corrective actions to realign outcomes when needed
- Project Closure
- Complete post-project evaluations to assess outcomes and impact
- Ensure deliverables align with intended results and desired operational improvements
- Document lessons learned and present findings to stakeholders
- Assemble, finalize, and archive project documentation
- Required Qualifications & Skills
- Advanced knowledge of PMBOK (charters, work plans, budgets, productivity tools)
- Intermediate knowledge of BABOK
- Intermediate knowledge of quality improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma)
- Advanced knowledge of change management principles (organizational dynamics, change theory, improvement tools/methods)
- Advanced knowledge of risk management principles
- Intermediate knowledge of healthcare and/or research operations and systems
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
