REA is a dynamic, technology-driven bookkeeping company exclusively serving the real estate industry. Our diverse clientele includes commercial and residential investors, developers, syndicators, as well as third-party property managers (residential/commercial/HOA). As we continue to expand, we’re excited to be hiring for our next Property Accounting Director to support our growing list of clients.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach, and mentor a team of bookkeeping professionals including Account Managers, Senior Bookkeepers, and Bookkeepers
- Team lead of 25+ clients, ensuring we meet and exceed the agreed up scope of work with the client including
- While you will have a team to support you, you are ultimately responsible (e.g. the head coach) for ensuring that the bank reconciliations, accounts payable, and financial statement close processes are done timely and accurately
- Develop strong client relationships
- Timely client communication (e.g. responses within 24 hours) and a passion for client service
- Review and approve month end close packages prepared by the Bookkeepers and Account Managers
- Onboarding of new clients, including identifying and proposing solutions to fix the clients’ books
- Develop month-end checklists and timelines for Clients to ensure close is completed in a timely manner
- Answer team member questions, provide support for Client questions
- Create process documentation (SOPs) for new and existing clients
- Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 7+ years overall experience in accounting/finance, ideally at a real estate investment or property management company
- 4+ years experience working with AppFolio or Yardi
- Ability to manage and lead a team of Bookkeepers and Account Managers, both abroad and in US
- Client facing skills with a passion for client service
- Certified Public Accountant (or equivalent experience) preferred but not required
- Passion for real estate, perfect books and providing business insights to clients
- Extremely detail and process oriented
- Organized and Proactive! :)
- Thrive in an environment where “switch tasking” is often required (e.g. triaging multiple client issues in any given day)
- Ideal Candidate (Not Mandatory):
- You have worked from the bottom up and are you are an AppFolio or Yardi EXPERT
- You are a CPA
- You are entrepreneurial in nature. Our goal is for you to “own” your book of business that will grow over time.
- You have experience managing multiple clients/projects at once
- You have real estate experience outside of accounting
- You have experience with Slack, Clickup, and Google Suite products
- You ‘know enough to be dangerous’ when it comes to real estate tax implications
- You are hardworking, but easy to get along with, even during times of increased workload.
- You are a problem solver always thinking about ways to make things more efficient
