The Prospect Research Associate is responsible for conducting in-depth research on individuals and organizations to evaluate their connections and potential contributions to the University, supporting major gift officers and university leaders. Responsibilities Compiles and analyzes detailed biographical and other publicly available information on individuals and organizations to determine prospectsβ relationships with the University, interests, and giving capacity Prepares/updates written profiles on potential individual, corporate and foundation prospects for major gift officers, the President of the University and the Vice President for University Relations Manages and reviews daily periodicals, lists alerts and other resources or prospecting resources Proactively prospects for new donors and determines their giving capacity Updates prospect database regularly Prepares specialized research for event and campaign purposes Guides work of other employees who perform essentially the same work and/or student workers Organizes, sets priorities, schedules and reviews work, but is generally not responsible for final decisions in hiring, performance management or compensation Assists in training new research staff and assists with the management and training of student interns Skills Bachelor's degree and a minimum of one year of experience in prospect research or an equivalent combination of education and experience Proficiency in the use of personal computers and MS and bolthires Office suites Facility with standard prospect research tools: business directories, online databases, and Internet resources and programs Strategic and creative thinker with excellent prioritization and multi-tasking skills Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with different audiences, including researchers, fundraisers, and senior-level administration Ability to effectively synthesize information from a variety of sources into an organized format Accuracy and attention to detail Excellent writing skills and thorough research skills Demonstrated ability to handle confidential material in a discreet and ethical manner Benefits Medical, dental, and vision insurance Flexible spending accounts Retirement plans Life insurance Short and long-term disability Employee assistance program ( EAP ) Tuition remission Generous time off Company Overview Founded in 1841, Fordham is the Jesuit University of New York, offering exceptional education.
