About the Department Our tutors (Science Learning Center) provide assistance to students by helping with lecture or lab materials, as well as help with study methods, or technology needed to complete course related material. Tutors may also assist with answering general questions about the college, providing assistance and guidance to college services. This tutor position will be focusing heavily on tutoring for General & Organic Chemistry materials. While this role will teach primarily online, please note that all candidates selected for employment must either reside in Ohio or be willing to relocate to Ohio before the start of their role. Location of Work: Online Hours of Work: Flexible during outlined times for the Science Learning Center (SLC). SLC is open Monday through Thursday 10am to 7pm. Schedule Requirements * Availability **Monday through Thursday** * Minimum of **15 hours per week** * Maximum of **28 hours per week** * Scheduled between **10:00 a.m. β 7:00 p.m.** * Must include **at least one evening shift (after 4:00 p.m.)** Hourly Pay Range: $15.11/hour to $20.39/hour Who We Are: The positive energy at Stark State College comes from exceptionally dedicated employees who work hard for students. In this role, you will empower students to excel in coursework through personalized support and guidance. Typical duties include: Conduct one-on-one and group tutoring sessions for anatomy and physiology courses including tutoring students in Anatomy and Physiology lecture and lab materials. Foster a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere conducive to academic success for all students. Guide students in studying for exams, understanding body systems, and interpreting lab results. Use interactive tools such as models, diagrams, and practice quizzes to enhance learning. Collaborate with faculty and fellow Learning Coaches to develop tailored resources and workshops to support student learning. To be considered youβll need: A bachelor's degree in chemistry or closely related field with course(s) in general chemistry and organic chemistry is required. Preferred Qualifications Previous tutoring experience is desired but not required. Comfortable with both in-person and online instruction platforms. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
