Warner Pacific Insurance Services is seeking an Associate Underwriter to serve as a key liaison between brokers, medical and ancillary carriers, and sales consultants. The role involves reviewing applications, resolving submission issues, and ensuring compliance throughout the underwriting process. Responsibilities Review new case submissions and promptly communicate with brokers and sales consultants regarding requirements or special circumstances within service level expectations Request necessary documents as per the carrier guidelines and maintain ongoing/open communication with the broker and sales consultant throughout the underwriting process Acknowledge receipt of required documents and submit group applications to carriers clean and complete, in a timely manner Ensure accurate and timely completion of all necessary documentation for approvals, modifications, or withdrawals Provide brokers with updates on any processing delays and potential impacts on coverage or premium costs Maintain knowledge of carrier guidelines, forms, applications, submission deadlines, completion deadlines, and relevant technology systems Make applicable recommendations regarding underwriting guidelines to broker and/or sales executive as needed for submission processing Conduct quality reviews of own work prior to submission to ensure accuracy and compliance with company standards Process post-approval corrections on behalf of the group, as needed In some markets, this role will also oversee the installation of the case, including welcome package and submission to finance for approval Monitor the status of submissions and proactively follow up with brokers to ensure timely receipt of carrier requirements Analyze and request any applicable carrier requirements from broker within applicable timeline set by the carrier Assist brokers who have questions pertaining to carrier guideline clarification or submission processing Provide backup support, desk coverage and assist other team members or departments as needed when requested by management Participate in knowledge-sharing and skill development Share observations and insights to contribute to process improvement discussions Maintain open communication with internal teams, brokers, and carriers to ensure efficient operations Perform related responsibilities and additional tasks as needed to support team and business operations Respond promptly to customer inquiries within established service level and provide exceptional service throughout the underwriting process Acknowledge urgent requests upon receipt Address client questions, concerns, or adjustments regarding their case submissions and work to resolve any issues in a timely manner Escalate any exception requests or escalated issues to a senior team member or manager Depending on the market, this role will also handle all customer service requests for the first 30 days post installation Treat all employees and internal/external customers with respect and support a positive and professional work environment Adhere to company policies, including those related to punctuality, attendance, workplace conduct and professionalism Adapt to change with a positive mindset and contribute to a supportive team environment Demonstrate strong judgment, integrity, and accountability in all aspects of job performance Complete assignments on time and proactively seek additional responsibilities when possible Skills High school diploma or equivalent required; advanced education preferred Previous underwriting experience or a related background is beneficial, minimum of 1 year Strong written and verbal communication skills Proficient using computer systems, office software, and data entry Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on attention to detail Ability to multitask and work effectively under pressure Benefits Merit increases Paid holidays Paid Time Off Medical Dental Vision Short- and long-term disability benefits 401(k) + match Life insurance Company Overview Warner Pacific was founded as a family business over 40 years ago and has since expanded to serve brokers all across our nation.
