Job Overview
KATHERINE KLEYMAN, ESQ., P.C. is seeking a highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented Remote California Employment Law Paralegal to support a growing plaintiff-side employment law practice.
This role is ideal for someone who is a true go-doer, takes initiative, follows through, and knows how to keep matters moving without waiting to be micromanaged. I am looking for someone who can think ahead, stay on top of deadlines, help organize complex case files, and meaningfully support pre-litigation and litigation work in a fast-moving boutique practice.
The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of experience in plaintiff-side employment law and is genuinely interested in advocating for employees in matters involving wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, disability accommodation, leave rights, and wage-and-hour violations.
Strong writing, organization, judgment, and initiative are essential. I am also looking for someone who is comfortable using technology and is open to working with AI tools to improve efficiency, organization, drafting support, and workflows.
This position will begin as part-time, with the expectation that it will grow into a full-time role as the practice continues to expand.
- Duties
- Support plaintiff-side employment law matters from intake through litigation
- Conduct legal research using LexisNexis, Westlaw, and other legal research platforms on California and federal employment law issues, including FEHA, Labor Code claims, retaliation, wrongful termination, disability accommodation, leave laws, and wage-and-hour issues
- Draft, format, and proofread legal documents, including demand letters, pleadings, discovery, subpoenas, declarations, chronologies, and correspondence
- Organize, review, and maintain case files, exhibits, evidence, and client materials in Clio
- Track deadlines, calendar litigation dates, and proactively help ensure matters are moving forward
- Follow up on outstanding items without repeated reminders
- Assist with intake, client communication, and follow-up in a professional and empathetic manner
- Prepare case summaries, timelines, damages calculations, and document review memoranda
- Assist with discovery management, deposition summaries, exhibit organization, and trial preparation
- Help manage and organize evidence, including emails, text messages, personnel files, medical records, performance reviews, payroll records, and other key case documents
- Support administrative workflows, including scheduling, document assembly, PDF preparation, filing coordination, and general litigation support
- Be open to learning and using AI tools to improve efficiency and support case management, drafting, and internal workflows
- Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in plaintiff-side employment law
- Paralegal certificate or equivalent legal experience
- Strong experience supporting pre-litigation, litigation, or both in a plaintiff-side employment law practice
- Strong proficiency with Clio
- Excellent legal research skills using LexisNexis
- Strong writing, proofreading, and document formatting skills
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple active matters at once
- Ability to work independently and proactively
- Someone who takes ownership, follows through, and helps move cases forward
- Comfort handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Professional, clear, and compassionate communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce polished work product remotely
- Openness and comfort working with AI tools as part of a modern legal workflow
- Preferred
- Experience with plaintiff-side employment matters involving FEHA, retaliation, wrongful termination, disability discrimination, failure to accommodate, leave claims, and wage-and-hour issues
- Experience preparing discovery, deposition summaries, medical chronologies, damages summaries, and trial binders
- Familiarity with California court rules, filing procedures, and litigation timelines
About the Role
This is a remote position for someone based in California or with strong California plaintiff-side employment law experience. I am looking for someone dependable, responsive, highly organized, proactive, and able to contribute meaningfully to a plaintiff-side practice focused on helping employees through difficult workplace situations.
Pay: $36.00 per hour
