Job Description
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Salas O’Brien is an employee-owned engineering and professional services firm focused on achieving impact for their clients and the world. The Certified Energy Manager will work closely with licensed professionals to evaluate systems, develop energy solutions, and support projects focused on energy resilience and microgrids.
Responsibilities
- Support projects under the Energy Resilience and Conservation Investment Program
- Assist in microgrid planning efforts, including load analysis, system sizing coordination, and integration with existing mechanical infrastructure
- Evaluate mechanical systems in mission-critical facilities, including data centers
- Conduct energy audits and develop energy conservation measures
- Perform life-cycle cost analysis, savings calculations, and feasibility assessments
- Support resilience planning and backup power strategies
- Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, and supporting documentation
- Coordinate with electrical engineers on distributed energy systems and interconnection planning
- Assist with performance-based contracting and energy baseline development
Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Certified Energy Manager credential
- Engineer-in-Training certification
- Actively pursuing Professional Engineer licensure
- Experience with energy modeling, building performance analysis, or mission-critical environments
- Experience and knowledge on sustainability in a built environment
- Strong analytical skills and ability to work across disciplines
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- MUST BE A US CITIZEN
- Exposure to microgrid systems, resilience planning, or data center mechanical systems is a strong plus
