Leidos is a pioneering company in defense and intelligence technology, seeking a Data Platform Engineer to support cloud modernization initiatives for the United States Coast Guard. The ideal candidate will lead the evolution of a multi-cloud data ecosystem, driving innovation across AWS and Azure platforms to deliver secure and scalable data solutions. Responsibilities • Set technical operational direction for data infrastructure, governance, and platform engineering standards • Partner with data science, analytics, and software teams to deliver high-impact solutions • Drive modernization initiatives • Evaluate emerging technologies and guide adoption strategies across the organization • Champion data security, compliance, and bolthires optimization in multi-cloud environments • Architect and implement scalable data pipelines, lakes, or warehouses using cloud-native tools • Lead Infrastructure-as-Code deployments • Optimize distributed data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Databricks) for performance and reliability • Oversee bolthires/CD pipelines and DevOps practices for data platform components • Monitor and troubleshoot cloud data services to ensure uptime and resilience • Work closely with developers, network engineers, and security teams to support cloud-based applications and services • Support cross-functional coordination across engineering, cybersecurity, and program management teams • Promote continuous improvement through feedback loops and process refinement • Ensure alignment with USCG mission priorities and Leidos delivery standards Skills • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Systems, Business) • 12+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure engineering • Deep expertise in AWS (e.g., Redshift, Glue, S3, Lambda) and Azure (e.g., Synapse, Data Factory, ADLS) • Proven track record of leading enterprise-scale data platform initiatives • Advanced proficiency in Python, SQL, and distributed computing frameworks • Strong understanding of data governance, security, and compliance frameworks • Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless architectures • Excellent facilitation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills • Ability to work in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment • Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect -
