American Unit, Inc is seeking a Computational Chemistry Modeling Engineer to support the development of plasma reactor simulation capabilities. The role involves using Quantemol-EC to calculate electron impact cross-sections and collaborating with engineers and scientists to enhance predictive accuracy in semiconductor tool design. Responsibilities β’ Operate Quantemol-EC (or similar software) to calculate electron impact cross-sections for plasma process chemistries. β’ Analyze and validate computed data using literature, experimental, or published cross-section data. β’ Collaborate with reactor modeling engineers and plasma scientists to integrate chemistry data into reactor-scale plasma simulations. β’ Perform data analysis, validation, and documentation of cross-section datasets and modeling results. β’ Support R&D efforts to enhance the predictive accuracy of plasma process models used in semiconductor tool design. Skills β’ Proven experience with Quantemol-EC, Quantemol-P, or similar computational chemistry or plasma modeling software. β’ Strong background in computational chemistry, physics, plasma science, or chemical engineering. β’ Understanding of electron-molecule interactions, gas-phase kinetics, or reaction rate modeling. β’ Proficiency in data analysis, scripting, and scientific computing (Python, MATLAB, etc.). β’ Excellent problem-solving and communication skills; able to present complex results clearly to cross-functional teams. β’ Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science. β’ Prior experience in plasma etch, deposition, or reactor modeling within the semiconductor or materials processing industries. β’ Familiarity with R-matrix methods, DFT/MD simulations, or molecular modeling of gas-phase reactions. β’ Experience with COMSOL Multiphysics, ANSYS Fluent, CFD-ACE+, or other reactor-scale simulation platforms. β’ Understanding of semiconductor plasma systems, thin-film processing, or vacuum-based manufacturing environments.
