Job Description
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. JFS, LLC. is a management consulting firm specializing in rural healthcare and service-based organizations. They are seeking an experienced financial leader to support the CFO and multiple hospital boards, ensuring accurate financial reporting and overseeing accounting operations for healthcare clients.
- Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations GL, A/P, A/R, payroll, and cash flow)
- Prepare GAAP-compliant monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Consolidate financials across multiple entities and track key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Assist with long-range financial planning
- Support Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement and cost reporting
- Assist with grant reporting, capital planning, and cash flow projections
- Coordinate audit readiness and liaise with external auditors
- Maintain internal controls appropriate for small, resource-constrained hospitals
- Partner with Fractional CFOs to deliver high-impact financial insight
- Mentor hospital finance teams and support process improvement
- Improve systems, reduce inefficiencies, and strengthen client outcomes
- Occasional travel to rural client sites
- Greater ownership of complex, multi-entity client portfolios
- Lead and review work of other consultants/accounting staff
- Serve as primary escalation point for technical accounting issues
- Play a key role in standardizing processes and scaling the CFO Services practice
- Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- 3+ years in healthcare finance
- Experience with rural hospitals or community healthcare strongly preferred
- Comfortable supporting multiple clients in a consulting environment
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills
- Clear, confident communicator with clients and teams
- Detail-oriented with high standards for accuracy
- Tech-savvy and experienced with healthcare accounting systems
- Mission-aligned with community-based healthcare
- CPA (preferred or required depending on organizational structure)
- Fractional CFO or outsourced accounting experience
- Rural healthcare or community hospital background
- Grant compliance or Single Audit experience
