Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Seattle Kraken is building a championship organization that serves fans and partners through world-class sports and entertainment. The Developer will be part of the Hockey Operations Research & Development team, responsible for building and maintaining internal systems for player evaluation, draft preparation, and game scouting.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain internal systems used by scouts, coaches, and front office staff
- Develop a React-based progressive web application for hockey operations
- Work closely with users to ensure tools meet their needs and address usability issues
- Ship production frontend code in React and TypeScript
- Translate user feedback into product decisions
Skills
- 6+ months of prior professional development experience
- Ability to independently ship production frontend code in React and pragmatic TypeScript
- Good judgment around data-heavy UI: tables, filters, workflows, state management, and loading/error handling
- Ability to take loosely defined requirements and deliver a practical first version
- Comfort working directly with non-technical users and translating their feedback into product decisions
- Clear written communication and the ability to work with high autonomy
- Experience with GraphQL and/or Hasura
- Familiarity with TanStack Query, TailwindCSS, or Vite
- Experience building PWAs, offline-first workflows, or working with service workers
- Exposure to Effect-TS or similar typed functional patterns
- Familiarity with auth flows such as AWS Cognito
- Background in internal tools, analytics products, or decision-support software
- Passion for hockey or sports
- A strong sense of design and UX
