Job Description
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. EO is offering an internship through their Ignite Internships program for high school students at Abingdon Health & Rehab. The Certified Nursing Assistant intern will support nursing and medical providers in administering care to patients, assisting with daily living activities and monitoring vital signs.
- Responsibilities
- Ability to care for and help patients with activities of daily living
- Ability to read, interpret and follow all written and verbal instructions
- Ability to communicate in a tactful and caring manner
- Ability to effectively work with co-workers and other nursing personnel to provide quality care to the patient
- Responsible for documenting in the patient’s clinical record nursing care provided, accurately and timely
- Receives report from Charge Nurse for assigned patients
- Assists with feeding and setting up of patient’s meal trays
- Assists patients with dressing if indicated, making sure that hands and face are washed, peri-care is provided, oral hygiene is provided, and hair is combed/brushed. Makes the patients’ bed
- Measures and records intake and output, if indicated
- Obtains accurate weight and height for patients
- Appropriately turn and position patient in bed, based on patient plan of care
- Provides preventive skin care
- Trims and cleans nails for patients who do not require specialized treatment (i.e., diabetic patients)
- Provides incontinence care for appropriate patients to ensure patients are clean and dry
- Observes, reports, and documents any unusual behavior or mood changes of patients
- Obtains and records vital signs for patients as instructed
- Assists in keeping the patient’s room and closet neat and orderly, to the extent possible
- Promptly answers the call system
- Reports any observations pertinent to changes in the patient’s physical status to the charge nurse promptly
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certified as a Certified Nursing Assistant in good standing with the Virginia Department of Health Professions
- Current CPR Healthcare Provider certification
