The Investment Associate will support investment underwriting and decision-making processes while assisting with financial modeling and analysis, contributing to structured finance activities and investment portfolio management. Responsibilities β’ Support investment underwriting and decision-making processes, in an analytical capacity. β’ Assist in modeling and analytics for financial investments, including asset cash-flow, liability modeling, stress testing and sensitivity analysis. β’ Help analyze data tapes, historical performance, proxy data, and other inputs to develop performance insights. β’ Assist with performance forecasting and scenario evaluation, assessing resiliency under varying assumptions. β’ Participate in investment portfolio management and help stay on top of ongoing activities. β’ Contribute to reporting and analysis for Nelnet and Nelnet Bank investment portfolios. β’ Collaborate closely with senior team members and gain exposure to structured finance techniques, including ABS structuring, securitization processes, and rating agency materials. β’ Support the structuring and evaluation of new asset originations, discreet pool purchases, forward flow programs, and other structured cash-flow investments. β’ Understanding financing structure options, including exposure to performance triggers and leverage mechanics. β’ Contribute to identifying data insights and trends within collateral performance and help synthesize findings for the broader team. Skills β’ Bachelorβs degree in business, finance, or a quantitative field (or equivalent experience). β’ Minimum three years of relevant experience in finance, analytics, structured products, investment analysis, or related fields. β’ Familiarity with structured finance concepts, financial modeling, and cash-flow analysis. β’ Strong analytical and quantitative skills; proficiency in Excel required. β’ Curiosity and interest in developing deeper expertise in cash-flow modeling, stress testing, and structured investment analysis. β’ Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to learn from senior analysts and contribute collaboratively. β’ SQL, Python, or experience with data tools is a plus. β’ Interest in learning industry modeling tools (e.g., Intex) and structured finance analytics.
