RemoteHunter is connecting candidates with a leading organization in the insurance industry that focuses on protecting families and businesses. The IT - Application System Admin I - IV is responsible for installing, supporting, and maintaining third-party application software, ensuring software stability and performance, and managing service requests while providing leadership and mentoring to less experienced associates.
Responsibilities
- Test and maintain third-party application software, upgrades, and patches on servers
- Manage generic and service accounts, including password changes and decommissioning
- Validate and monitor software and server access
- Create and deploy build packages for development, testing, and production environments
- Evaluate and recommend software upgrades and optimize configurations
- Coordinate software/hardware installations and upgrades with IT infrastructure teams
- Provide debugging support to developers and maintain application user permissions
- Analyze software/configuration changes and their impact on other systems
- Collaborate with development and source integrity teams for initial application deployments
- Configure and modify scheduling tools for software cycles and processes
- Monitor job performance, storage, and log files within supported environments
- Generate and analyze system performance metrics and recommend improvements
- Provide on-call incident and outage support
- Validate firewall, load balancer, and server configuration changes
- Create and execute database scripts and queries; maintain databases
- Plan and coordinate backup and disaster recovery activities
- Perform troubleshooting and follow environment restart/recovery procedures and test plans
- Handle application service start and completion and maintain interfaces
- Identify integration points and reusable components between systems
- Research and recommend new technologies impacting system environments
- Provide technical assistance and automate system administration tasks via scripting
- Review system architecture for limitations and compliance; recommend improvements
- Use diagnostic tools and collaborate with vendors to resolve application issues
- Train and mentor less experienced associates
- Recommend service area process improvements
- Apply change, incident, release, and problem management processes
- Follow service area and IT procedures, standards, and audit compliance requirements
- Serve as technical lead for third-party application upgrades
- Manage service requests, resource assignments, communication plans, and support schedules
- Perform change manager responsibilities
Skills
- Experience with PeopleSoft and PeopleTools installation
- Proven ability to manage third-party software environments and application deployments
- Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills
- Knowledge of system performance monitoring and tuning
- Experience with database maintenance and scripting
- Familiarity with firewall, load balancer, and server configuration
- Ability to manage service requests and lead technical projects
- Experience mentoring or training team members
- Understanding of IT service management processes and compliance standards
