The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. iShift is a company seeking an experienced Solutions Architect to help onboard and support customers using Managed OpenStack and Managed Kubernetes products. The role involves guiding customers through their cloud journey, leading VMware to OpenStack migration projects, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative cloud infrastructure solutions. Responsibilities • • IaC Refactoring: Lead the refactoring of existing Terraform code from the VMware Provider to the OpenStack Provider, ensuring feature parity for provisioning and managing Compute, Storage, and Network resources within OpenStack • • Image Pipeline Modernization: Redesign and implement the Packer build pipelines, transitioning from the VMware builder to the OpenStack Builder to automate the creation and publication of hardened virtual machine images in the OpenStack Image Library (Glance) • • bolthires/CD Integration: Update and test the Jenkins pipelines and GitLab configurations to seamlessly execute the new Packer and Terraform code against the OpenStack endpoints.
This includes securing API access and managing credentials • • Platform Expertise: Serve as the technical authority on OpenStack's underlying architecture (KVM, OpenStack) and its features, advising on the most effective way to map existing VMware features (e.g., vMotion, HA, DRS) to their OpenStack equivalents • • Documentation and Training: Create clear, comprehensive documentation for the new process, and provide knowledge transfer and training to the internal DevOps and Platform Engineering teams Skills • Expertise in Kubernetes: Deep knowledge of managing, deploying, and scaling cloud-native infrastructure technologies.
• Experience with Cloud-Native Technologies: A solid understanding of the cloud-native landscape, including bolthires/CD, containers, microservices, and cloud infrastructure management. • OpenStack Expertise: Extensive hands-on experience with OpenStack, including deployments, operations, and optimizations. Proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues in a production OpenStack environment. • Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure concepts including networking, storage, compute, and security within OpenStack.
• Automation Skills: Proficiency in writing automation scripts in Go, Python, Bash to streamline operational tasks. • Strong understanding of infrastructure as code (IaC), configuration management tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible), and DevOps best practices. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills: Ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and implement effective solutions. • 5+ years of hands-on experience with OpenStack and Kubernetes.
• Experience with managed services or SaaS platforms is a plus. • Experience with public clouds (AWS, GCP, Azure) and hybrid cloud environments is a plus. • Industry certifications in Kubernetes (CKA/CKAD/CKS) Company Overview • iShift is an information technology company.
