Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and innovative Scientist III to join the Antibody Generation Group within the Biotherapeutics Department. This role involves designing, executing, and interpreting experiments to characterize binding interactions and kinetics of biotherapeutic modalities, contributing to the discovery of therapeutics to address major unmet medical needs.

    Responsibilities
  • Independently design, execute, and interpret SPR experiments to characterize antibody–antigen interactions, providing scientifically rigorous kinetic data that supports biotherapeutic discovery and departmental research goals
  • Apply advanced kinetic modeling and data analysis to inform lead selection, affinity maturation, and mechanism of action hypotheses, clearly articulating experimental rationale, limitations, and impact to project teams and the broader discovery organization
  • Contribute to the incorporation of new SPR methodologies, technologies, and best practices to enhance assay robustness, efficiency, and scientific impact, while proactively proposing innovative ideas and challenging existing workflows
  • Support laboratory excellence by assisting in the training and mentoring of junior scientists, sharing expertise beyond the immediate group, and helping streamline laboratory processes to improve effectiveness and data quality
  • Collaborate closely with cross functional discovery teams to deliver high quality, data driven insights that advance candidates toward development
  • Complies with applicable regulations, performing all work in a safe manner; Maintains proper records in accordance with SOPs and policies
    Skills
  • Master's degree in a related scientific discipline with 6+ years of industry experience or equivalent experience in molecular/cellular biology or biochemistry
  • Requires working knowledge of SPR-based technologies and the application of this technology in the drug discovery process to support project efforts, ranging from hit identification to mechanism-of-action studies
  • Expert level knowledge of assay development methodologies for SPR specific instrumentation (BiacoreT200/S200, Biacore8K) supported by hands-on experience. (LSA-XT experience a plus)
  • Extensive experience performing assay data capture and analysis using software such as, Biacore Insight, Spotfire, and Prism
  • Ability to work within a collaborative team environment and present and defend results to project and technical teams
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction
  • Must be willing to submit to a background investigation, including verification of your past employment, criminal history, and educational background
  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
