Job description: Immediately Hiring 4 Remote VA Experienced Outpatient Coding Part-Time AuditorsSummaryCooper Thomas, LLC, a leading provider of medical coding services to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), has immediate openings for experienced Outpatient Auditors. Applicants must have at least 3 years of medical coding auditing experience for part-time (1099) remote auditing positions, with the opportunity for a flexible schedule. Previous experience with VA is required, whether as a VA employee or with another VA contractor. You must be able to pass an initial entrance exam and code at a minimum of 95% accuracy. This work will be performed remotely in your home office.Cooper Thomas is offering signing bonus to qualified candidates who are hired as a result of responding to this position description.Preference will be given to those candidates who meet the qualifications below and have an active Background Investigation, PIV Card, eToken, and DMA or Multi-farm CAG Account. Applicants with CPMA credentials will also be given preference.Qualificationsยท Must be able to perform the full scope of multi-specialty OP clinic, ED, minor procedures, radiology, rehabilitation, and lab encounters utilizing ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes.ยท At least two (2) years of VA or other relevant coding experience, either as a VA employee or with another Government contractor supporting VAยท At least three (3) years of VA or other relevant auditing experience, either as a VA employee or with another Government contractor supporting VAยท Ability to audit Outpatient encounters at an average of 7.0x Outpatient encounters per hour with 95% accuracyยท Must produce copies of and maintain active credentials as a certified coder or auditorยท Ability to follow site-specific coding guidelinesยท Familiar with E/M leveling for OP and ED visits using 95โ€™, 97โ€™ and 2022 guidelinesยท Familiar with E/M calculator and ability to use this tool proficientlyยท Familiar with 3M Encoder for ICD10 and CPT codingยท Knowledge in anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, pathology and disease processes, pharmacology, health record format and content, reimbursement methodologies and conventions, rules and guidelines for current classification systems (ICD, CPT, HCPCS).ยท Must be able to complete work within the required times as established by Coding Managers and Project Team Leadsยท Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writingยท Must be able to explain audit results to coders in a professional and non-confrontational mannerยท Must be able to follow established processes for coder challenges of audit resultsAccepted Coding CredentialsAmerican Health Information Management Association (AHIMA):ยท Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) / Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)ยท Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) / Certified Coding Specialist-Physician (CCS-P)American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC):ยท Certified Professional Coder (CPC)ยท Certified Outpatient Coder (COC)ยท Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA)Minimum Educationยท High School Diploma or equivalentCooper Thomas, LLC is a leading provider of health information management services.
