About the position The University of Washington is seeking a part-time Oncology Nurse Navigator for the Alvord Brain Tumor Center. This role focuses on empowering neuro-oncology patients to navigate their cancer treatment with confidence, providing compassionate guidance and advocacy throughout the care continuum. The position offers a flexible schedule and the opportunity to work from home after training. Responsibilities β’ Provide patient-centric care for a breadth of neuro-oncologic diagnoses, including brain and central nervous system (CNS) tumors β’ Assist patients, families, and caregivers to overcome healthcare system barriers β’ Provide care coordination throughout the cancer continuum, ensuring timely access β’ Provide education and resources to patients, families, and caregivers about diagnoses, treatment options, side effect management, post-treatment care, and survivorship β’ Assess and promote healthy lifestyle choices and self-care strategies through education and referrals to ancillary services β’ Develop and use appropriate assessment tools (e.g. distress screening, pain scale, performance status) β’ Support a smooth transition of patients from active treatment into survivorship or end-of-life care β’ Demonstrate knowledge of the Fred Hutch and UW Medicine Clinical Pathways β’ Facilitate communication among members of the multidisciplinary cancer care team to prevent fragmented or delayed care that could adversely affect patient outcomes; this includes participating in multidisciplinary case reviews and tumor boards Requirements β’ 3 years of recent care management nursing experience, oncology nursing experience, or equivalent experience β’ Active licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in Washington State Benefits β’ $10,000 Sign-On Bonus for eligible part-time new employees β’ Generous benefits and work/life programs Apply tot his job
