Maintain and optimize the scientific computing systems at the California Institute of Technology.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to the scientific computing systems.
Collaborate with scientists and researchers to understand their computing needs and provide solutions.
Install, configure, and upgrade software and hardware components of the scientific computing systems.
Monitor system performance and implement necessary adjustments to ensure optimal functionality.
Manage user accounts and access permissions for the scientific computing systems.
Develop and implement backup and disaster recovery plans for the scientific computing systems.
Stay up-to-date with advancements in scientific computing technology and make recommendations for system improvements.
Document system configurations, processes, and procedures for future reference.
Provide technical support and training to users of the scientific computing systems.
Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth operation of the scientific computing systems.
Adhere to security protocols and ensure the integrity and confidentiality of data on the scientific computing systems.
Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to provide updates on system maintenance and improvements.
Proactively identify and address any potential security risks or vulnerabilities in the scientific computing systems.
