Bcforward is looking for Remote Test Scorer / Reader K–12 Assessment Scorer

Position: Test Scorer / Reader

Duration: 8-week contract (April – June)

Pay Rate: $18 per hour

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM (35 hours per week)

Location: Remote (Work from your approved U.S. home address only)- EST /CST

Position Overview

Client is a leading educational assessment company that designs, develops, scores, and applies psychometric standards to standardized tests administered to students in grades K–12. These assessments support state education requirements and align with Common Core standards across subject areas including reading, writing, mathematics, social studies, and science.

The Test Scorer/Reader plays a critical role in ensuring accurate and fair scoring of student responses that require human evaluation. This includes essays, written explanations, and math problems where students must demonstrate their reasoning or show their work.

Score constructed-response test items according to detailed state scoring guidelines
Evaluate student essays, written responses, and math problem solutions
Log into a secure online scoring system to assess digital submissions
Review scanned images of paper-based tests via computer screen
Apply scoring criteria consistently and objectively
Participate in mandatory training sessions led by the Scoring Director
Successfully pass a qualifying test following training
Maintain confidentiality and adhere strictly to scoring standards
Work collaboratively within a team environment under the supervision of a Team Leader

Initial project days focus on structured training based on State Department of Education scoring criteria
Completion of a qualifying assessment is required to demonstrate scoring accuracy
Must demonstrate the ability to set aside personal opinions and strictly follow established scoring guidelines

Monday – Friday
8:30 AM – 4:00 PM
30-minute unpaid lunch break
Two 15-minute paid breaks (morning & afternoon)

No schedule modifications permitted
No absences allowed during the first week of training
Must be available for the full duration of the assigned project

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university (diploma or official transcripts required)
Commitment to work the entire project duration
Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods
Strong reading comprehension and attention to detail
Ability to maintain neutrality and follow structured guidelines precisely
