Job Description
We are a growing tax and advisory firm seeking an experienced individual tax preparer to assist with the remainder of tax season.
Our firm uses a structured digital intake process where clients upload documents and complete an organizer before preparation begins. Returns are typically well organized before they reach the preparer, allowing you to focus on efficient preparation rather than document discovery.
- Expected Work
- Prepare individual tax returns (Form 1040 and related schedules)
- Typical mix includes W-2, 1099, Schedule C, Schedule E, and investment income
- Most returns arrive with completed intake questionnaires and uploaded documents
- Work collaboratively with a reviewer (CPA/EA) who handles final approval and complex issues
Productivity Target
Our typical preparer completes 4–6 returns per day depending on complexity.
Returns are weighted for complexity (simple returns count as 1, more complex returns count as up to 3.5).
- Compensation
- $30–$35 per hour base pay
- Performance bonus of $5,000–$15,000 based on production and quality metrics during the season
Our bonus structure rewards preparers who maintain strong productivity and accuracy.
Software
We currently prepare returns using Drake Tax.
Experience with Drake is helpful but not required if you are an experienced preparer and comfortable learning software quickly.

Pay: $32.00 - $41.00 per hour
