Position Overview

arenaflex is seeking an Experienced Data Entry Compounding Pharmacy Technician to join our bustling Pompano Beach pharmacy. In this role, you will be the critical link between prescription intake, compounding formulation, and final verification. Your primary focus will be accurate data entry, meticulous record‑keeping, and hands‑on assistance in the preparation of compounded medications. This is a full‑time position offering a competitive hourly wage of $17 – $21 and a supportive environment that values precision, teamwork, and patient safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enter prescription data into arenaflex’s pharmacy management system with 100% accuracy, ensuring that patient demographics, dosage instructions, and insurance details are correct.

  • Assist certified compounding pharmacists in measuring, mixing, and labeling specialty preparations, adhering to USP ® Compounding standards.

  • Perform double‑checks on medication calculations, ingredient weights, and final product labels to prevent errors.

  • Maintain and update compounding logs, batch records, and quality assurance documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations.

  • Coordinate with suppliers to verify receipt of raw materials, check expiration dates, and log lot numbers for traceability.

  • Respond promptly to pharmacy staff inquiries regarding prescription status, refill eligibility, and insurance authorizations.

  • Support inventory management by conducting regular cycle counts, reconciling discrepancies, and generating restocking reports.

  • Participate in daily sanitation and equipment calibration checks to uphold a sterile compounding environment.

  • Provide exceptional customer service, answering patient phone calls, and delivering clear instructions on medication administration when needed.

  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives, suggesting workflow enhancements that increase efficiency without compromising safety.

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of hands‑on experience in a compounding pharmacy setting, preferably with exposure to sterile and non‑sterile compounding techniques.

  • High proficiency in pharmacy software (e.g., PioneerRx, QS/1, or similar) and strong computer literacy for accurate data entry.

  • Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) from the PTCB or a state‑approved equivalent.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on clarity and patient safety.

  • Demonstrated ability to follow detailed SOPs, maintain meticulous records, and adhere to regulatory standards (HIPAA, FDA, state board).

  • Strong mathematical aptitude for dosage calculations and measurement conversions.

  • Dependability, punctuality, and a collaborative mindset that thrives in a fast‑paced team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Pharmacy Technology or a related health science field.

  • Additional training in sterile compounding, USP ® Chapter 797, or USP ® Chapter 795.

  • Experience with insurance verification, prior authorizations, and billing processes.

  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) integration and data exchange protocols.

  • Bilingual ability (English/Spanish) to better serve the diverse community in Pompano Beach.

  • Previous involvement in quality improvement projects or medication safety committees.

Skills & Competencies Required for Success

  • Attention to Detail: Ability to spot discrepancies in prescription details, ingredient weights, and documentation.

  • Time Management: Prioritize multiple tasks—data entry, compounding prep, inventory checks—while meeting strict turnaround times.

  • Problem‑Solving: Quickly resolve issues such as unclear prescriptions, missing ingredients, or insurance denials.

  • Technical Aptitude: Comfortable navigating pharmacy software, barcode scanners, and digital inventory systems.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Work collaboratively with pharmacists, pharmacy aides, and external vendors; communicate effectively with patients.

  • Compliance Mindset: Understand and implement HIPAA, OSHA, and compound‑specific regulations without exception.

  • Adaptability: Ability to adjust to evolving protocols, new software updates, and seasonal prescription volume spikes.
