Business Process Analyst

Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid, with on-site presence as required by the client)

Clearance/Screening Requirements: Candidates must be US Citizens and able to successfully undergo a background investigation.
Position Summary:

PBG's McLean, VA office is seeking a skilled and forward-thinking Data Engineer. This role requires a strong technical foundation in data engineering, experience in data-intensive regulatory or financial environments, and the ability to help guide modernization efforts away from legacy systems.

Key Responsibilities:

    The Business Process Analyst shall be responsible for the following (subject to evolving needs):
  • Lead business process discovery and analysis efforts for dedicated Agile workstreams, serving as the primary analyst for a specific economic product family.
  • Act as the key facilitator and liaison between business stakeholders (economists, researchers) and technical teams (architects, data engineers) to elicit, analyze, and document requirements.
  • Design and document streamlined "To-Be" processes, integrating insights from stakeholder analysis and improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and present findings, process models, and recommendations to diverse audiences to drive consensus and inform modernization decisions.
  • Ensure the quality, accuracy, and consistency of all process documentation and analytical artifacts created by the sprint team.
  • Minimum Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in business, economics, information systems, operations, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience, with at least 3+ years leading in conducting business process analysis, process mapping, and requirements elicitation.
  • Demonstrated experience leading development of As-Is and To-Be process maps, workflows, and documentation.
  • Experience facilitating interviews and requirements workshops with business and technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with common process modeling and documentation techniques (e.g., swim lanes, journey maps, BPMN, IDEF, UML).
  • Demonstrated skills in delivering excellent presentations, visualization, and report writing.
  • Demonstrated experience with communication and stakeholder management.
  • Experience utilizing process improvement methodologies (e.g., Capability Maturity Model, Six Sigma, BPM, Kaizen, etc.).
  • Experience utilizing agile methods and tools (e.g., Scrum, Kanban, Jira, Trello, etc.).
  • Experience supporting economic, financial, data-intensive, or analytical business domains.
  • Highly Valued Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience identifying cross-organizational patterns, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
  • Professional certification (e.g., BPM, Six Sigma, CBPP, PMI-PBA).
  • Experience translating business needs into technology-enabled process and capability requirements.
  • Familiarity with data pipelines, analytical workflows, or model lifecycle processes.
  • Experience working in environments with decentralized operations and federated governance models.
  • Experience supporting or informing technology modernization, cloud migration, or platform rationalization initiatives.
