Job Description
We’re FRENETK, an online art gallery developing a story to shape our brand voice. Our nonprofit arm (Earthtopian dot org) supports 13 initiatives benefiting Los Angeles organizations (ReBuild LA/Habitat for Humanity, TeamPalisades, LA Regional Food Bank, Homeboy Industries) and global partners (World Central Kitchen, Doctors Without Borders, Charity: Water, etc.). Our story centers on a social‑justice lawyer who also happens to be…a monkey. He champions the marginalized, defends the wrongly accused, and works to make the world a better place. We have the basic premise and some character development outlined. This is a collaborative, high‑concept project that tackles social unrest, combats inequality, and addresses climate change—strap in.
What you’ll do
- Develop and write the mascot‑driven story (short story or serial format, per agreement).
- Expand and refine character arcs, dialogue, scenes, and overall narrative structure.
- Produce a concise brand‑voice guide rooted in the story.
- Revise based on feedback and deliver publication‑ready copy.
Who we’re looking for
- 3+ years professional creative writing/storytelling experience.
- Strong portfolio of character‑driven fiction, brand storytelling, or scriptwriting.
- Excellent command of narrative structure, dialogue, pacing, and editing.
- Comfortable addressing bold, issue‑driven themes with nuance, empathy, and creativity.
Commitment & compensation
- 15–20 hours/month.
- $35–$45/hr (dependent on experience).
- Remote; candidates across US time zones welcome. We’re based in Los Angeles.
How to apply
- Send cover letter highlighting relevant projects.
- Current availability.
- 3 portfolio samples (character‑driven fiction, scripts, or brand storytelling preferred).
Notes
- Included with this posting: the artwork "The In‑Laws," which inspired the story.
- If you can bring our monkey and its world to life—apply.
