Job Description
As Senior Manager, Health Informatics, you will define the semantic, terminology, and governance systems behind Oura's member-facing health experiences. You will partner across Product, Design, Engineering, Science, AI, and Regulatory & Clinical Affairs to translate clinical evidence and structured health concepts into safe, scalable, member-friendly guidance. This is a hands-on informatics role for someone who can move fluidly between ontology design, product decision-making, and cross-functional execution.
- What you will do:
- Design and evolve the semantic foundation for member-facing health experiences, including ontologies, schemas, value sets, metadata models, and terminology systems.
- Translate complex clinical concepts into clear, safe, intuitive in-app guidance that reflects both scientific rigor and product usability.
- Build scalable taxonomies, controlled vocabularies, content models, and information architecture that improve consistency across app surfaces, prompts, labels, search, and future health features.
- Define rules and governance for how health information is classified, surfaced, reviewed, and maintained across the product lifecycle.
- Support personalized and AI-enabled health experiences by helping structure the safe use of wearable, survey, behavioral, and EHR data.
- Partner closely with Product, Design, Engineering, Science, Clinical, and Regulatory teams to align informatics decisions with product needs, technical implementation, and clinical quality.
- We would love to consider you for this role if you have:
- Advanced training, such as RN/NP/PA, MD/DO, or MS/MPH, in a relevant clinical, health informatics, or related discipline, with demonstrated experience in digital health or clinical product development.
- 5+ years of experience in health informatics, clinical ontology, taxonomy, terminology, health data modeling, knowledge management, or related work in digital health, healthcare, or health technology.
- Hands-on experience with clinical terminologies such as SNOMED CT, RxNorm, LOINC, and ICD-10, and applying them to product-ready schemas, knowledge graphs, decision logic, or data models.
- Experience designing scalable information architecture, controlled vocabularies, taxonomy systems, metadata models, or governance frameworks for digital products.
- Strong judgment in translating clinical information into clear, member-friendly guidance without compromising rigor or safety.
- Experience working closely with software and data engineering teams in modern product development environments.
- Proven ability to work effectively across Product, Design, Engineering, Science, Clinical, and Regulatory teams.
- Commitment to health equity, inclusive design, and building systems that support diverse global populations.
- Preferred qualifications
- Experience building or governing ontology-backed or rules-based systems for personalized health guidance, clinical decision support, or consumer health experiences.
- Familiarity with AI or large language model applications in healthcare, especially where structured knowledge, terminology, or review systems support quality and consistency.
- Experience partnering with UX writing, content design, localization, or design systems teams on structured in-app guidance.
- Familiarity with EHR or interoperability standards and the challenges of representing clinical data in consumer-facing products.
- Comfort collaborating on implementation details, evaluation logic, or data pipelines with engineering and science partners.
- Why you'll love working here
- Shape how Oura translates health science into product experiences used by millions.
- Work at the intersection of clinical practice, informatics, AI, product, and design in a role that is both strategic and hands-on.
- Help build the systems that make Oura's health guidance more accurate, scalable, trustworthy, and member-centered.
