Washington, DC (Preferred) or Remote (U.S.) | Full-Time | $93,200 - $115,800 (varies by location) About the Role The nation's largest nonprofit environmental law organization is hiring a Senior Public Affairs and Communications Research Analyst to support executive leadership with research, briefings, and strategic analysis. The organization uses litigation, advocacy, and communications to protect public health, preserve wildlife and natural places, advance clean energy, and combat climate change. It has offices in more than a dozen U.S. cities and a team of environmental lawyers, legislative advocates, and communications professionals. This is a non-supervisory research and analysis role that sits within the Communications department and works closely with the Vice President of Public Affairs and Communications, the Vice President of Policy and Legislation, Litigation VPs, and the President. The analyst will produce regular reports and briefing memos, track polling and message testing, develop data-informed recommendations for messaging and spokesperson strategy, and synthesize complex research into accessible content for thought leadership. The role also involves maintaining relationships with external partner organizations and coalitions to stay current on the latest research across environmental and public interest issues. A strong fit for someone with a background in communications research, public affairs, or policy analysis who is comfortable working with senior leadership, managing multiple priorities, and translating complex issues into clear, actionable materials. What the Role Covers • Tracking and analyzing new research, polling, and data related to the organization's programmatic issues (60% of role) • Producing regular reports, insights, and data-informed recommendations for senior leadership • Synthesizing complex research into digestible content for thought leadership and executive communications • Delivering rapid-turnaround analysis and briefings for the President and VP of Public Affairs and Communications • Drafting briefing memos across issue areas in collaboration with litigation, communications, and policy teams (20% of role) • Serving as a liaison to gather relevant information from program teams for thought leadership and development deliverables • Maintaining strong external networks and working with partner organizations to gather the latest research and ideas (10% of role) • Contributing to team meetings, project management, knowledge sharing, and content planning (10% of role) Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, political science, public policy, or a related field (or comparable work experience) • 4+ years in media monitoring, communications research, public affairs, or a related field • Familiarity with environmental, social justice, or public interest advocacy communications • Demonstrated experience analyzing trends and synthesizing findings into strategic recommendations • Strong policy research skills and experience analyzing and communicating data • Experience drafting memos, message guidance, or strategic communications materials • Experience working with executive leadership • Ability to translate complex issues into compelling, accessible communications • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and respond quickly to new developments Salary by Location • San Francisco, CA / New York, NY: $109,600 - $121,800 • Washington, DC / Chicago, IL / Seattle, WA / Los Angeles, CA: $104,200 - $115,800 • Denver, CO / Philadelphia, PA: $98,700 - $109,700 • Miami, FL / Bozeman, MT / New Orleans, LA: $93,200 - $103,600 • Other remote locations: $93,200 - $115,800 To Apply Visit Mediabistro for full details and application instructions.
