Software Engineering Manager I

Job Description: • Multidisciplinary Team Management: Lead and develop a team of 6 to 9 high-performance engineers, orchestrating deliveries across a hybrid, complex stack: Native Android (Kotlin with Jetpack Compose), Cross-platform (KMP/CMP), and Backend (C#); • Strategy and Prioritization (OKRs): Co-lead the definition of OKRs and roadmaps with Product, ensuring that technical strategy (debt, scalability) has room and that prioritization is based on measurable business impact, balancing competing demands; • Management of Critical Dependencies: Actively manage relationships with Platform teams, ensuring technical blockers are resolved before they impact the team's roadmap; • Technical Growth of the Team: Lead the transformation of engineers from legacy stacks into specialists in the ecosystem (Native Android, KMP, and C#), raising the technical bar through IDPs and 1:1s; • Reliability Engineering: Ensure performance and stability on physical devices (POS and mobile devices), defining quality and observability strategies across a fleet of thousands of terminals; • Culture of Excellence: Ensure adoption of best practices (RFCs, Tech Specs, Clean Code) and make difficult technical decisions, balancing deadline pressure with the structural quality of the product; • Engineering Culture and Inner Source: Ensure rigorous adoption of technical design processes (RFCs, Tech Specs) and living documentation.

Promote Inner Source initiatives to avoid knowledge silos and maximize code reuse within the tribe; • Operational and Agile Excellence: Define and refine engineering processes (Kanban/Lean), using rituals to ensure a predictable and sustainable delivery flow, eliminating waste and impediments. Requirements: • Hybrid Technical Leadership: Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams focused on Android (Mobile/POS) and Backend; • Strong knowledge of the modern Android ecosystem (Kotlin, Jetpack Compose), backend architecture (C# or similar), and familiarity with shared-code strategies (KMP); • Lifecycle and Hardware Expertise: Experience with release and rollout processes for critical applications or physical terminals, with strong troubleshooting and telemetry capabilities; • Architecture and Technical Writing: Solid knowledge of software architecture (SOLID, Design Patterns) and prior experience implementing an RFCs/Design Docs culture within engineering teams; • Flow Management: Hands-on experience in leadership based on agile principles, focused on team health metrics and delivery efficiency.
